I'm sure it's described in detail somewhere here, as the same questions seem to come up again and again, but what exactly is corking?:confused1 How do you do it?:confused1 And what is the benefit of it?:confused1

Its like it sounds...you draw a blade through a cork (wine or whatever). It serves to take all the burrs and rough edges off the blade, very similar to if you hand or palm strop the blade. It's for people who like that "2nd shave with a blade" feeling right away, but on the other hand, corking will remove any coating the blade had as well.

I always find that a new blade feels nicer on the second pass of it's first shave. I have tried corking but I didn't notice any difference.

Today I dropped a cork into my blade hoard.

I enjoy 'Shaving with the SC Sharks' http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj184/befje/smileys/bf-sharksmiley.gif, but happen to cork these blades 3 times on each side which I feel 'removes' any burs and/or rough spots and gives me a '2nd shave' smoothness on the first shave.

Thanks guys. I will read through all these threads, if I ever get close to caught up. I've got a few corks from my brides wine bottles, I may give it a spin.
