Gets rave reviews on here and elsewhere. I am not into old mannish (aka mature) scents like so many wetshavers love. Might have to go with small decant first.

No. You probably will not.

You might not at first. I sure didn't. Keep wearing it.

The closest I can compare it to is Creed Royal English Leather. Knize is a stonger version with a different opening. The opening is the only thing I don't like about Knize Ten since it has a chemical like (petroleum?) scent. After the first 30 minutes it's LEATHER for about the next 8-12 hrs.
I suggest a decant which is not very expensive after your Windsor purchases.
MUDASSIR HAS 10 ML DECANTS AT A VERY GOOD PRICE.

I got a sample of it to see what all the fuss was about. In a word, yuck. I never did make it past the opening notes.

I think you have to give them a chance. I sampled knize 10, had a reaction like jor8an, first. The initial notes do not last that long, then it morphs into something else. I know they say it's leather, and I get that too, but then it is almost like sandalwood as well. After about 10 tries, I gave it to my dad, and now I want it back. I've since sampled many others and it has moved to my top 4, which I will probably stay at only 4. I'm under 40 and also do not like the "barbershop/mature" scents.

It's quite polarizing. Think Fahrenheit with leather instead of floral.

Many people cant handle it but it is my all time favorite. The entire cycle of the fragrance is heavenly. I quite enjoy the petrol, motor oil, rubber opening. It fades after a while into probably the best leather scent out there and then mellows into what I would consider an insense like scent. I get more compliments than any other of my fragrances.

Just curious what are your top 3?

I generally have moved towards lighter more floral scents and attars/ouds recently but still enjoy some heavier ones like VT or Givenchy Gentleman from time to time. I worked hard at K10 over a couple of years but more often than not got a sustained "horse piss" leatheryness so I eventually sold it. It's a must try but not an easy scent to live with IMO.

It's awesome, and I love the powerful opening! Great leather heart and drydown, with a sweet accord. The drydown also has an ambery vanilla flavor which is delish.

Call it semi-active. He still is selling but just a much smaller list of supplies. I think that Knize 10 is worth trying at least once. I agree the opening is something else but it smelled so good for the rest of the day that it was worth it IMHO. I just know that o need to apply about 30 min before going out.

Sample first! For about the first 15 minutes you smell like you just got off from the 3rd. shift at the refinery. After it settles a bit it delivers the most refined leather experience one could image. Mist from a distance. Do not concentrate in one area, as you may feel a bit overpowered. A great fragrance. IMHO

It is one of the greatest scents, but very polarizing: either Love or Hate! I have worn nothing else for some 25 years. Get a sample and try it out before you take the plunge. A lot of guys did not like it initially, but eventually fell in love with it.

Always hard to tell with you Schad, you're full of surprises. But I think not. It is IMO very similar to Creed REL in its full wearing.
I personally don't think of it it as old mannish per se, but more on the mature side than not. The kind of scent that some young guys could really roll with, if they they had the right attitude. REL is more citrus and leather; Knize 10 more floral and leather. There is also the petroleum like note that kills it for many.
Small decant perhaps. Very small. But if you're going to test it out, give it a fair shake and wear it a few hours.

+1. It's a must try for these reasons. It's a scent that you might not like at first, give it a few tries and let us know!

Like with all scents nobody can tell you whether you'll like it or not, you have to try it for yourself; starting threads won't help. Give it at least 2 wearings, if you don't like it, then move on.

Schad, I'd be surprised if you liked it but it's hard to get a read on Knize 10.For me it is very much the smell of an old world club for gentlemen, oil rubbed leather, powder and floral. The balance of those changes constantly so its very complex and interesting. But it does very much present itself to me as classic - I'd call it timeless, I fear you might call it dated.

I bought a decant and was glad I did. Definitely not for me. It an unusual note that I find unpleasant. I very much like the SMN Peau d'Espangne so its not the leather that turns me off. Perhaps its the rubber folks frequently mention.

Thanks for asking. I have not tried it yet. I am working on obtaining a decant.
I have a feeling I will not like, yet feel obligated to try becuase of the rave reviews it gets from many.

I love it, but I don't think I really pull it off. The opening is strong, but I wouldn't call if motor oil. I think it starts as a harsh/spicy leather that draws down to a more pure leather. I would describe it as rugged -- something a biker or cowboy would wear. As a city boy, I feel like its harder to wear.

I think the opening is borderline criminal. The drydown is ok, but not what I'm looking for.
Schad, I'm going to guess that you will not like it.

O bought a decant, which is gathering dust on my shelves because i detested it--the only scent I've reacted to as strongly. But perhaps I should give it one more try? Schad, perhaps you'd like Azzaro pour Homme, which, though not my cup of tea, seemed to me to belong to the same genre and have some good points.

I also have Knize Sec, and like it very much as well. If you go to a store, try it out first, and if you like it, buy it! Knize is pretty hard to find here in the US, but in Germany every good perfume store (not the large chains) carry it.

I did not like Azzaro PH. Very "old mannish" vibe. Azzaro is often mentioned in same breath as Rive Gauche PH, however, and I very much like Rive Gauche.

I've gravitated to less stereotypically 'old-mannish' masculine scents of the type represented by Azzaro and Knize. My all time favorites are Chanel Pour Monsieur and Caron .Pour un Homme, I've just discovered Caron le troisieme homme, which is terrific, Grey Flannel and Andy Tauer's L'Air du desert marocain, which I think is officially for both men and women. .Good luck with your quest!

I don't mind the gas/oil note(s) in Fahrenheit, especially since the drydown is so agreeable to me (although I will apply it a good hour or so before I leave the house). Are the oil/petroleum note(s) in Knize 10 similar to Fahrenheit's?
Also, my only experience with leather so far is with Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather, which I think is just okay. Not sure if it's the leather or something else that's holding it back for me. My question is, is the leather note in Knize 10 anything like TFTL's?
For me it is very much the smell of an old world club for gentlemen, oil rubbed leather, powder and floral.
Just how powdery is it? I can't tolerate powder in too many fragrances other than Prada Infusion d'Homme and my good ol' Blue Floid aftershave.

the leather in K10 is very different then the leather in TFTL.
TFTL is brand new leather, where K10 is aged leather. If that makes any sense.
