I write with Herbin's Lierre Sauvage. Like it much, much more than their Verte Empire. What do you have / know of that is similar to Lierre Sauvage (perhaps with a little bit of a 'fun variant') ? Ideally it will dry QUICK as I am left-handed.

Thanks!

I have an older bottle of Sheaffer green (American made in Skripwell bottle) that I really love but it is nothing like the newer Sheaffer green ... ew, horrible.

Here is an interesting comparison of some greens including your J.Herbin Lierre Sauvage and some old Parker Super Quink (probably unavailable now) and others.

I have a bottle of the PR Avocado that's reviewed there. I didn't think that I'd like it when I saw it in the bottle, but I needed some green in a hurry and that was all my local B&M had. It's turned out to be very nice.

I have an Herbin one which isn't only green, but also smells of apples ;-)
Shame it is very "watery", that is to say the colour is not very strong once it has dried.

Probably not precisely up your ally, but I'm loving Sailor's Jentle Epinard. Great ink.

Using Noodler's Gruene Cactus in a Sheaffer Triumph Imperial. It's a dark, true green, no yellows or blues. Seems perfectly suited to "coloring" and casual correspondence. Despite the Sheaffer's propensity to put down a lot of ink, this ink exhibits very little feathering and seems to dry quickly.

I have a Noodlers green that is very nice. It's perhaps a bit bright for my taste, but very nice nonetheless.

Its a 'manly' green IMHO and I find it dries very quickly on my problematic papers.

I wish J. Herbin inks weren't so washed out. I have 4 of them and I love them all, but only with a dip pen or the Pelikan Script. I was on a green hunt recently myself. I hate Noodlers inks so that pretty much cut out a lot of recommendations people had (I can't understand why they are so popular, but that's another thread I guess). Sailor Epinard is wonderful, as is plain old Sheaffer green. But y'know what my favorite is and seems to meet your criteria? Pelikan Edelstein Aventurine. I got it for Christmas and at first I thought it was a little too bright and peppy for me, but it's just gorgeous. Worth a sample at least.

I use Noodlers Forest Green in the pen that lives on my desk at home. It's very nice.

I just bought a bottle of Lierre Sauvage just because of that pic Jim posted. I hope you guys are happy. I hadn't even considered a green ink before.

Here's the bonus question: What character in a popular series of novels from the 1950's and early 1960's used green ink in his fountain pen?

I know- I hadn't either. It is all Jim's fault

::sigh:: this is going to be every bit as bad for my wallet as my interest in shaving. At least SWMBO shares an interest in pens and writing. :)

Just think- you can be the only guy in the office wandering around with ink stained fingers- the color du jour is Baystate Blue :001_smile

This gem was courtesy of my brother, who also pokes fun at my traditional shaving hobby. Last week I had a tiny accident and ended up with Sailor Epinard staining my fingers. He sees it and goes "Modern technology has made stained fingers obsolete. I guess you didn't get the memo."

Tell him the pony express hasn't arrived yet  Seriously, technology has brought us many good things- just not good shaving and writing implements.

Guene Cactus is indeed a nice, Irish green .. on my monitor at least the color is true to Jim's post above

Me, too, but now I want some green ink (of course, I am going to need a matching pen :001_smile)

I also have Lierre Sauvage loaded at the moment. A very similar green to my eyes is Noodler's Gruene Cactus which was mentioned above. The Noodler's GC runs away with the slightest amount of water so I don't use it for anything that needs to be lasting more than a short while.

I want to say Perry Mason, but I can't remember why. Don't tell me it's the Green Hornet.

One of the most sought after Greens was the Mont Blanc Racing Green. Now there was a green ink that people lusted after.

I've read...I think on FPN?...that Sailor Jentle Epinard is a decent successor to Montblanc Racing Green.

Private Reserve makes a Quick-dry Sherwood Green that is also vary nice. Has anyone done a LEFTY - RIGHTY pen survey?

I seem to recall M. from the James Bond novels using green ink. Yes?

You're right. I remember a Perry Mason episode where he wrote with green ink, but I think it had something to do with the particular crime that episode.

Yes. The answer was "loosey--tighty".

Btw: what is that pretty looking green FP on the ink review picture?

This is a good one...

I also have PR Sherwood green loaded in my FPN LE Stipula Model T, and it is a nice green.
