BOTOC (Brotherhood of the Open Comb) feast your eyes on this Senator:
I've been hunting for one for a while and this little guy cleaned up well. Couldn't shave with it today (my Big Fellow took care of that) but I can't wait til tomorrow. It's got a bent tooth but I'm gonna fight the urge to fix, I'm sure it will not affect the shave and I don't want my inept hands to hurt him.

Wow, nice ...how much pay?

I bought it in a lot of other DE's. Whole lot was under $70. I think it was fair considering these guys average about $25-$50 in this condition.

I'm thinking that you should send it to me, to verify that it truly is a Senator, and not a Sheraton. Also, let a trained BOTOC member evaluate the bent tooth, see if it can be repaired, used as is, or possibly retired.:innocent::innocent:

As a proxy for the BOTOC I will assume responsibility for examining, assessing, and evaluating the performance of our dear senator of California.

Congrats ...you did well for find one and for what you paid! I don't think that the bent tooth looks too bad and probably won't effect the shave. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on how it shaves when you have a chance. I'm fortunate to own a Senator myself and really enjoy how it shaves ...it's a truly unique razor in the Gillette line.

That a great find! Looks exactly like mine. Hey, let me go check..LOL. Ok it's still there! It's a tad aggressive for me had a heck of a ride the first time, much better go of it the second. Trying to find the right angle still. Congrats!

Senators have been demanding some pretty high prices lately:

I loves me a Senator. Don't try to fix that bent tooth, the success percentages are really low for that.

Just consider it a battle scar from a tough election.

I shaved with it. I get it!

Shaving software:
Blade: Personna Lab (unparalleled sharpness and smoothness)
Brush: VDH badger (It's broken in nicely. Right amount of scritch and floppiness. Holds tons of lather)
Soap: VDH Luxury (Scent reminiscent of Polo Black with a cucumbery note. Leaves face feeling refreshed)
ASB: T&H Grafton (Very gentlemanly scent. I use it as a "celebratory" AS for some reason)

I know why the Senator and the Sheraton have a following. Besides being somewhat of an uncommon razor (not rare) the shave is what won me over. I've been a person with a love/hate relationship with open-combs due to my love of TTO razors and mild razor/sharp blade combinations. However, shaving with the Senator allowed me not to compromise my love for super speeds and affinity for the aggressiveness of an open comb. I've become fond of OC's due to their ability to efficiently shave those stubborn neck hairs and those tight areas like in the corner of my lip/mustache area. Another interesting thing about the Senator is that the teeth on the open comb are much more rounded than any OC I've tried. It was ideal for my round face. The Senator glided over the contours of my face with absolute ease. For those who appreciate the feel and comfortable shave of the 40's style Super Speed family (Ranger Tech, Milord, etc.) but like a little more bite without jumping into the aggressive side, the Sheraton and Senator is your best bet.

I am very pleased to hear that you are really enjoying your Senator! Your observations are spot on as well.

It's really not that crooked. Maybe like a few millimeters. But my OCD acts up. It's like when you see a tiny eyelash hair on another person's face and you have that urge to remove it from them.
