Well my brush came in on Thursday. A very nice surprise. A nice box too.

I was nicely surprised by the packaging.

When I opened it I saw the addition and it looks great in person. Comes with a stand which won't get used, however some might like it.

As you can see and my niggle with this brush is the printing on the rippled handle. If I could make a suggestion I would include the Vie-Long crest and name on the base. Not a big deal. May matter to some. For me the performance is what is central to a brush.

Wow, that packaging is very nice. I have the brush in the horse/badger mix and must say that the brush performs very well. I find the handle to be very comfortable and well produced. I almost have the urge to buy the silvertip now just to save for a later generation and place with other display items. I also won't be using the stand, it's almost too small for the knot and I fear the worst. I'll be using a larger stand for drying and then keeping the brush with the others on my brush shelf when fully dried.

The brush is considerably dense. It is as dense as my D-01's. The tips a very soft. Softer than any I have so far. They do provide some face feel and because of the loft and the concomitant backbone you can get a marvelous face lathering machine. After one use I am excited to get some history with this one. Very nice knot and unlike any other I have experienced so far. I have a Sabini horn Rooney , A Vintage Rooney handle with a low lofted Simpson ( ) 3 band super, and a couple of D-01's aSimpson Eagle 3 in best and some TGN finest ect and this new Vie Long ads something new to the party. I will add more to this as I get more history with this beauty. This is clearly a face lathering machine.

A little Mitchels Wool Fat

So all in all I would Highly recommend this brush to face latherer's who love a soft yet not gelled soft face feel. Its certainly luxurious while giving very good backbone and the flow through is very good out of the gate. I anticipate it will get better with use. Something it will certainly get plenty of!

morganjg,

This is a great silvertip. One shave in ad its already coming up roses. Hmm, do I have some rose scented soap!? I am curious about the horse hair. The mix I'm sure is also a great brush. Had to have the silvertip though as thats my thing.

Nice write up HCB. I picked up the horse/badger mix and it's also really nice. The Silvertip is really tempting.

Thanks Shawn. I am really digging it. This is an addictive brush. Beware brush sniffers and petters! It really is the softest with back bone and tactile feel on the face. As a unique feel in the line up this lovely brush has earned a place front row!

I totally agree with your assessment.
I also got a Vie Long Badger Silvertip. It has a regular spot in my rotation. A truly luxurious, dense feel with decent backbone.
It is definitely the softest brush I have.

Hi Craig

Nice brushes. This is my first Vie-Long Silvertip. Its amazing how dense it is and soft. The 50mm loft makes it have nice backbone. Its a perfect soft face latherer the day after a scrub with a M&F or the Shavemac me thinks.

Heres a bloomed pic or three,

Another phenomenal shave with this brush today. I am really digging it. I do have to correct the spec list. The 25mm knot is set at 45mm's not 50. This is a good thing as it performs well at this loft and provides some scrub on the soft side of scrub. Super sweet brush.
