jamesspo Derby Shave Stick PIF review

First off, want to thank James for the great PIF where he gave away a shave stick to 5 lucky members! Received mine last night and shaved with it this morning. When I peeled the foil back I was greeted with a great scent: clean, soapy, with a big note of citronella. I was a little leery of a shave stick because I have actually never face-lathered before (strictly a bowl man here). After the usual face prep, I started to swipe the stick over my face, and after I got over citronella intoxication, I picked up my EJ BBB and proceeded to lather. WOW, now I see why face lathering guys are so adamant! It was nice to see mounds of lather build so easily and quickly! Made more than enough lather for my 2 pass shave, could have easily gotten 3 or 4. It left my face feeling smooth, clean and refreshed. Two thumbs up! :thumbup:

Glad you got it ok, and had a chance to check it out. I've used mine a couple of times, and like it. I can't tell too much difference in performance from Arko (although smell is slightly different), but it is a great performer no doubt. For those that like a little less strong scent, I think it can be a good choice for them vs Arko.

Now I need to taste it... I can't believe I forgot to try!

Welcome to the club! Face lathering is amazing! Some say it is too much work, but giving yourself a face massage does not seem like work!

You Arkites are a bad influence! I tasted the lather from my Mystic Water Lime sample today! (Not much to it.)

I just got my derby and tweez sticks in from Turkey, bestshave.net. gotta tell you, they came pretty quick about 7 daqys, and I was able to track them the whole way. however,when I opend the package and smelled, it was Arkos. Just to be fait I took the thyree to my wife, and had her smell, and she couldn't really telll the difference either.
I take all of my shave sticks and melt or softenand press into the small rubermaid containers with the red screw tops, works great for me and the scent seems to last longer and it makes loading up prettyeasy, so doing that I made up a couple of test lathers, one of each.
Both lathered up really well, i am very pleased. the lather was a tad thicker than my Arkos, but not enough to say there was a big difference.
I'm gusssing that since all three come from Turkey, the scent is popular there, my wife compared it to old Dove soap.
