A question for you guys that use shave oil daily or frequently: Do you find that your brush eventually builds up an oily residue ? If so, is this a problem and what do you do about it ?

You're using too much oil - all you need is 3 or 4 drops. It's intended to soak in and soften the skin, not to coat everything.

Actually, Go West, I do not use shave oil, but I am thinking about it. My question is over a long period of time, say 6-12 months, does the use of oil, even in small quantities, gradually build up an oily residue in your brush? If so, what do you do about it ?
I have never bothered with shave oil, but obviously you are going to be soaping and lathering your brush each time you shave. I can only imagine that that process will keep your brush from becoming fouled with oil.

A good washing with shampoo followed by conditioner should take care of any buildup.

I have been wet shaving (with a brush) for more than 30 years now. Since finding B&B I have discovered Shave Secret and have used it about every day for almost 3 years. I have found absolutely no difference in any buildup with SS compared to without.
The key here is to use just a few (as in 3-5) drops and massage it into your skin BEFORE lathering. If not, I could see how some buildup could possibly occur over time. If that does occur, then a good wash and hair conditioner will take care of it.

Yup, if you use the right amount it'll get absorbed into your skin long before the brush gets anywhere near your face.

Can't say for sure Alex, as I only own 1 boar and 3 badgers--2 silvertip and one pure. Never had a bit of problem with any of them, though. If you've got a synthetic silvertip brush and are a brave man, maybe you could take one for the team.
