I don't know how to stop myself from ordering a sample of each of them! Help LOL! I think I'm going to get my fiance the aftershave milk, because the aftershave he has now...well lets just say it doesn't thrill me. He likes the smell of the sandalwood vanilla from mama bear, and so far I like all of them. has anyone tried the after shave milk? Also just for fun, whats your fav mamabear soap and most important whats it smell like?! Because I really don't want to buy them all!!:w00t:

I actually got a sample of everyone of them, didn't pull the trigger on a soap though... didn't find the scent that hit the magic spot for me.

Why don't you buy one the sample packs? I just did and I like the Dragons Blood and Bonsai the best. I had purchased the Hinoki Woods to, but when I received it was not what I was expecting scent wise. So what I read does not translate for me into what it actually smells like. I guess I need some olifactory education ;-).

I was able to go to Mama Bear's place and sniff them all. She has too many scents to count. My favorite in acorns and oak leaves with autumn afternoon coming in second. My wife likes to use the lavender-vanilla or the lily of the valley. I have not tried the aftershave milk but am interested in hearing from those who have.

The sampler packs are a good way to go. I don't really use melt-n-pour type soaps, but Mama Bear's scents are fantastic. Ye Olde Barbershoppe was my favorite (I finally put it on BST when I realized I hadn't actually shaved with it in months, but was sniffing from the jar every few days). Sandalwood Vanilla was a pretty close second, and Phoenix Rising is a terrific scent too. Sorry can't help you with th e A/S question, as I've never tried them, but Sue makes a high quality product. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Carley, I use the sandalwood vanilla ASB (balm, not milk). It's wonderful, and great for the winter! The bottle with the pump meters it out perfectly. I've been using it all winter, and it is still about 60% full.

Tried 31 of them so far. Many more still to go. MB is my special occasion shave soap.
Scent is a very personal thing and what works for me may not work for you which is why her samples are such a great thing. What I found interesting is that some scents that I really like normally, I don't care for in a shave soap. :confused1

In order of favorite for me:
Autumn Lodge - reminds me of apple cider, hint of cinnamon. Love this scent so much that I melted it into a mug and leave it open. Fills the bathroom with the scent. I also use it most days.
Winter Lodge - smells just like snapping a spruce needle in winter
Cedarwood/Lemon - love the scent of cedar and this one nails it with a touch of lemon to keep it interesting.
Fall Leaves - hard to describe this one. Bit of the musky smell of a pile of leaves with some spice thrown in for good measure
I have used, and do use the three listed above for just about every shave.
One thing I've found with Mama bears (and I've tried a bunch of samples) is that they all seem to lather just about identically so you can base your choice more on scent. Do be aware that some people have had problems with irritation. I have not.
I have also tried:
Canadian Spruce - smelled like a pine scented candle.
Bay Rum - just a good bay rum smell
Christmas Forest - again smelled heavily of pine/spruce
Mysore Sandalwood - didn't care for this one, smelled a bit too perfumy for me
Turkish Mocha - dark coffee smell with a bit of chocolate. I like the smell but seemed a bit much when I shaved with it
Northwoods - don't remember much about this one but it didn't make into my rotation
I also ordered the following samples but didn't like the scent enough to try them:
Cucumber Mint - just too feminine to me. Tried to get the wife to try it as I thought it would have smelled great on her.
Lemon Ice - not sure what it was but didn't care for this one
Sandalwood/Vanilla - just too perfumy for me
And lastly I have the following still to try:
Spiced Hot Apple Cider - smells just like the name
Dragons Blood - I have no clue how to describe this but it's nice. Sort of a cologne smell, bit dark but I like it.
Cedarwood - smell it and you'll think you're holding a nice chunk of cedar. Light but very nice scent.
Hinoki Wood - Bit of a musky wood smell. Reminds me of some incense
Good Morning Honey - Very sweet smell with a nice after note of the honey. Can't quite peg what the other scents are
It can be a bit overwhelming on picking scent from Mama Bear. I ordered in quite a few samples at first, then picked a favorite from that bunch (the Autumn Lodge) and ordered a tub of that along with more samples. Since then I've ordered a couple of more times from her.
Of course I am adventuring out beyond Mama Bear and trying Cella, C&E Sandalwood, and others but Mama Bears is still my daily shave soap and the bulk of my rotation.

Oh boy. Oh man. So much good stuff to try. I've sworn off buying any more soaps or creams until I finish off at least *one* of my collection, but I have a feeling I'll be hitting up mama bear for more as soon as I do.
To answer the OP's question, my favorites of the ones I own are Phoenix Rising and Bacon. Yes Bacon. Tho I really really love pine scent and haven't tried any of those varieties yet, so...

Hows the thickness of that? is it really think like wax or more of a lotion?

I got the 18-scent sampler, and have already found several that I like. Unfortunately, one of them makes me sneeze in concentrated form, and kills the wife's nose even in lather form/on my skin. :( Dragon's Blood, we hardly knew ye.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to order Sandalwood/Vanilla, possibly Spiced Lime.

Haha I know I'm being difficult. Then again not many soaps make it in my rotation so this is not a a critic of Mama bear soaps but more because of my peculiar taste and how scents remind people of different things.
As a side note, I wish cleaning product would stop using fragrances because first they do a lousy job at it and second they spoil everything else that has a similar scent afterwards...

True story. I got the Citrus and Basil on the BST, thinking I would really like it since I like both individual scents. I still like it, but find it to more tart than I was expecting. This is why samples are so great.
As for brass tacks, so far my favorites are Aged Spice, Bay Rhum, and Ye Olde Barbershoppe. The Aged Spice smells like, well, Old Spice, just like my grandpa used to use. I like to follow it with a lime AS splash. The Bay Rhum smells like an olfactory trip to the Caribbean: coconut, spice, and a hint of rum. DEFINITELY a summer soap. I can't bring myself to use Ye Olde Barbershoppe, and here's why: it smells so amazingly good that I keep holding off on using it, wanting to save it for something special. It smells like the inside of a barbershop: lilac, talcum powder, warmth, soap, all that old-timey good stuff that smells indescribably masculine. I keep putting it back, saying "No, I'll save it for later" and setting it back on the shelf. I take a deep whiff of it, sigh, and put the lid back on. It's seriously twisted.
By Odin's snow-white beard, my shave den will never be without a tub of MB soap in it.

Don't forget about pampering yourself with some bathtime fun (http://mamabearssoaps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=41)!
In addition to shaving soaps, Mama Bear also has essential oils available as well. 4-6 drops in the bath provides a GREAT aroma through the whole bathroom while you soak away the day's troubles. We have Lavender (Bulgarian), Orange Essential Oil 5 fold, and Tangerine and will try others once these are done.

Barber Shop is my fav. I really like Mama Bears...it seems to work so much better than other soaps members are always talking about. Good luck!
