Cleaning Razor Purchased on eBay

Thanks you to all who commented on my recent purchase of a 1961 Gillette Fatboy. I was told by the seller that it was new and unused - still in the original packing along with instructions - but am curious as to what method of cleaning, prior to its initial use, would be recommended by others in this discussion group.

If the razor looks clean, I'd give it a once over in a mild detergeant solution and a good rinse with water. Lastly, I'd soak the razor for about 2-3 minutes in a mixture of 10 percent bleach (9 parts water and 1 part bleach), and once again rinse in water. I would always use bleach when purchasing an item such as a razor from someone else.
