EDIT: The razor is actually an Ever-Ready, minor detail... (I can't change the thread title.)

Many people have shown me tremendous generosity here at Badger and Blade, and to show a token of my appreciation, I offer an Ever-Ready 1924 SE razor as a PIF. I will include 2 new Gem blades to get you started.

Rules:
1. You don't currently own a Ever-Ready/ Gem 1924.
2. You have not tried one before.
3. To enter, post "I'm in" in this thread by noon MST on Monday, March 5.
(It's open to all world-wide meeting the above criteria.)

See pic below. It's not perfect. It shows some brassing on the head, but is perfectly usable. Good luck!

Ok, I'm in. I've got a 1912 and love it, would be interesting to try this model out.

Will this count as an open comb?

I'm in.

Will this count as an open comb?

I have wondered this myself. It certainly behaves like one vs. a closed safety bar.

This has me wondering... was there a version of this 1924 razor with the "Gem" brand on it?

I'm in.

I hear this is a great option to attempt to solve my ingrown hair issues. I've been on the lookout for one of these. I have tried an injector, but no other kind of SE razor. Here's hoping...

Great razor. Unfortunately, I don't think I could find the blades for this where I live or I would have entered the draw. Nice PIF nonetheless.

I'm in. Looking to ditch the multi blade shaving style. Tired of ingrown hairs and stuff. Got in on the slickdeals razor but would love to have a vintage razor and roll with that.

It is. It isn't a better shave, just a....different shave.

The two big differences are the angle you use and the thickness of the blades. A sharp se blade just powers through anything you put in front of it. I actually used my 1924 for the first time in a long time today. I wouldn't call it an ideal gateway se, but it is capable of providing an incredibly close shave provided you aren't careless with it.

24 ME!!! I'm in!! Curious as to how it would compare to a Gbar?

natchez
03-04-2012, 07:39 AM
Very, very nice PIF. These razors compare very favorably to a G-Bar, 1912, and the others. Gives a fine shave. Water does tend to accumulate a bit in these heads, so it is a good idea to tip it on its side to let the water run out. Good luck to all the entrants.
