I'm curious because it's £30 and I'm wondering what information could be presented that hasn't been on B&B, aside from an opportunity to recommend Geo F Trumper products. So, have any of you done this?

Sounds like a wonderful opportunity to waste 30 quid.

I remember several years ago one of our members posted they went- The barbers were very impressed with the quality of his Tony Miller strop. I recall they gave him the bum rush because one of the "royals" were coming in.

From 2006: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/6090-Trumpers-Straight-Shaving-Lesson - I do not see the bit about being pushed out, but the author did mention some pressure to buy more gear.

Yep that's the post I was thinking of. I guess the bums rush was another gent.

Yep... I guess the bums rush was another gent.

Do you mean the gent who pays for shaving lessons at a place that wants to sell him products? That gent?

Better than TOBS. They will charge you 60quid to teach you how to straight shave.

Anyone hit T&H in chicago or Toronto for a shave? Is it worth it?

I've been to the T&H in chicago....it was enjoyable, i lost count at about 14 hot towels in but it was not as rewarding as shaving myself! also where in MoCo you at thats my home town

I figured this was the case but was curious about other members thoughts/experiences. I've never had an interest in paying to have someone else shave my face, although I thought perhaps the professionals have secrets I have yet to learn. I usually do a 3-pass shave, down, across, and across again in the other direction, using pre-shave from time to time and an alum. I'm pretty satisfied, 30 quids a lot of money.

I have to say, a hot towel shave done by someone who really knows their business is truly an amazing thing...now I am not sure that I would cough up 60 bucks for that luxury...definitely not on a regular basis...there are a few barber shops around that will give you a hot towel shave for 20. In dollars, that s much more within reach, although it still won't be a regular occurrence, I enjoy doing it myself too much.

I've had a couple of barber shaves and they were nice, but not as nice as when I shave myself.
