Gents,
I was just on Amazon.com a few minutes ago ordering another 100 of my favorite DE blades and decided to run a bit of rough math against my "former" favorite blade. Considering I use about a blade per week @ 5 shaves per week this was what I found out...
8 Gillette Mach 3 Blades
Current Price: 18.99
Price Per Blade: $2.37
Total Shave Yield: 2 months
100 Shark Blades
Current Price: 17.49 per 100
Price Per Blade: 17 cents
Total Shave Yield: almost 2 YEARS...
Given those prices it would cost over $227 to shave for two years with a Mach 3 vs. 17 bucks for the Sharks.
Lets say I plan on living for another 50 years...I would save $5,238 dollars. That's enough for a pretty stylish casket!

now factor in shaving cream, pre and post lotions along with brush etc...i think in the long run it will equal out.

Yes. But I deliberately ignored that factor haha.

Actually...I have always been using Proraso, a Semogue and Old Sprice so the shave prep/post numbers would be constant.
This only factors in blade cost.
But lets say I used to use 4 cans of Barbarsol per year at a buck a piece.
With those costs I would still save a total of around $1,711.50 over a 50 year time span.

I don't think anyone here has saved any money on wet shaving. I'm sure there are a few exceptions.

no i have not saved money, infact I know it costs me more each year. What i find off about the math too is that a mach99 blade lasts me up to a month or so, maybe not for you but i know i could stretch out an 8 pack for a year

That's one of the reasons why I got off the cart-train.
