My Merkur slant is my favorite, go-to razor.

I was thinking of purchasing a slant recently, but then someone informed that there is a 37c slant and a 39c slant. What are the differences? Is only one of them called the "sledgehammer" and why?

39c has a longer handle.

The 39c has a longer handle and is heavier than the 37c, I just got a 37c on bst but am awaiting its arrival, excited to try it out

Probably because it is a pretty big and heavy razor...thus resembling a small sledgehammer.

There are three razors that give me a fantastic one pass shave:
Fatboy 7-9
1901 GEM SE
Merkur 37c
The 37c is aggressive, but good technique is rewarded with a fast smooth shave. This is a great razor

Same here; I just bought a slant and a lot of shave soaps on B/S/T. I've heard a lot of good things about this razor. Good luck with your sale!

If anyone is interested in a slant, they should get this one. I had both the 39c (barberpole) and the 37c (HD) and I think the 37c is a much better razor. I found that the handle was so heavy on the 39c that I started to apply more pressure to keep the razor to the skin and the slant requires a lighter touch than a closed-comb razor. But the 37c has a perfect balance so its nice and light and does the job well. I think this should be everyone's second razor.

My first and only razor is a Merkur 37c (just started wet shaving a little over a month ago). I love this razor... All it does is provide an uber close shave and mows through my 4 or 5 day growth like nothing. Whoever buys this razor try it with feather blades and take your time.

I'm new here too, but I don't think Buy/Sell/Trade really works that way. My guess is that, unless the deal is really the sort of deal (i.e. rare, valuable product) that warrants a personal call, you'll need to work all deals through the forum and private message.

Quick question regarding the Merkur Slant. I'm deciding between the 39C & the 37C...I'm thinking the only difference is that the 39C has a longer handle. However after looking at the 39C it looks like its more of a pole handle (its shape is different than the 37C). I'm looking on Amazon. Which one do you all recommend?
