Hi all,
Hammer here, checking in for the first time! I'm a new member, but not new to wet shaving at all. I've been at it for a while now, and no longer consider myself a noob!! (Milestones have been reached!).
Some folks on here may already know me from other shaving forums, but I was unaware of this site until a good friend told me about it, and he also is a member here.
I look forward to participating in the discussions, and I hope to be able to offer help when help is needed, and receive same when I need it. Being somewhat of an experienced str8 and DE shaver does not mean one cannot learn even more by broadening ones horizons. Experienced does not mean 'I know everything' it only means I no longer ask beginner questions.
I have been using DE's since my father taught me how to shave as a youngster, but lost my way somehow during my 20's. Now in my 50's I have returned to the tried and true methods of wetshaving and haven't looked back since. I have a rather extensive collection of Straight Razors, but only own 3 DE's, my favorite is a '67 fat boy adjustable that I just love, and a japanese DE I bought last year that I let my youngest son, who is just learning to shave, use. I have a wife using a my Parker to do her legs with. I prefer Shark Super Chrome blades for them all.
I have a collection of only 35 shave ready straight razors that I rotate my way thru, and I'm a beginning honer with all the appropriate equipment that that statement implies. I have everything from a 7 day set of spikes to several handmade semi wedges that I am very attached to. SWMBO claims I am addicted and she is not wrong. I've made collecting an art, whether it is brushes, soaps, creams, AS's and Edt's, strops and razors. I always claim there are worse things to be addicted to!! LOL.
I drink beer, have a penchant for single malts and enjoy a fine cigar on occasion.
Having said all that, I think I will like it here, as it seems this is my kind of people (plus I've been told you all are my kind of people)!!
So, happy to be aboard and hope to yak at you all soon!!
All the best to my shaving brothers,
