Hello,

I just got my first DE today and I was so excited I left work early to get everything broke in and ready to go.
It was my intention to purchase the Merkur 180/23C.

I'm a bit concerned though, when I opened the package from Amazon both the razor and demo blade were flying around outside the Merkur box.
Both seem to be structurally sound, but that sent up a huge red flag in my book - I started looking for the 'Made in China' stamp.:wink2:

I noticed that the razor had the Merkur logo and Made in Germany stamped on the handle, but beyond that I didnt see any model designation on the razor or the Merkur box.

To boot the handle measured in at 3 7/8" when all descriptions said the handle should be an even 4".

Any insight on how to spot a fraud, or is the handle really supposed to be 3 7/8" and they are just rounding the dimension to 4"?:crying:

It's fine, no-one is counterfeiting Merkurs.

The Superior Shave (http://thesuperiorshave.com/Merkur_Razors.html) says "The Merkur 23C is a straight cut, closed comb, 3-piece unit with longer ~3.75" (~95mm) handle."

Great news, thank you both or the help, it was just unnerving to have everything floating around like that. Guess it was a good thing my kids didn't open the box.:w00t:

Amazon often does a poor job of packing. I think you should let them know.

As great as the designs are for Merkur I think they look better in pictures. Don't get me wrong they're amazing razors but when you see them in pictures they look more heavy-duty than what they are. Of course, they are made from chrome plated pot metal.
