Well, I've finally decided to take the plunge. I have my nice (read: affordable) brush from Target, a cheap ceramic bowl for some lathering, and a sampler blade pack from west coast shaving on the way. Now it's time for the main event. I need me a razor!

My beard seems to be pretty light compared to others, so I'm looking for anything that'd fit. As my wallet is also pretty light, I want to stay below $20 so I can pick up some much-needed shaving cream as well before I fall headlong into complete RAS-induced bankruptcy. All the materials I've read through seem to indicate my best choices seem to revolve around a Super Speed (Blue-tip, maaaybe Black), thick-handled Tech, or even a Fat Boy or Slim if they fall low enough into my range. It doesn't have to be pristine, as I can clean and disinfect, but shouldn't have any permanent cosmetic or mechanical damage. I'm also open to other razor suggestions if anybody has any.

Thanks guys (& girls...?),

avox

Would you be interested in a plastic based Gillette Super Adjustable? X date code (1977).

Thanks to all the people who replied. I ended up getting a nice SS to try out. Hopefully, it'll end up being all I need. :001_wub:

  When I got my Futur, I was hoping it was all I needed. That was about 20 razors ago. Good luck.

hopefully it wouldn't :)
to explain - if you end up liking it after a while you'll really want to try something that may be just a little better for you. that's just a sign that SS is working for you so much better than whatever you're using currently, that you want to see if there's anything even better. anyways, the good news is - there is plenty of new things to try within any budget :)

enjoy, and don't forget you're not a real man until you can put an unguarded blade to your throat confident that it will remove just the hair and leave the skin intact.

...Good lawd! I have too many minor obsessions (read: hobbies) as it is. I'm just trying to keep them in check.

No, I get what you're saying. I'll more than likely try something new as time goes on, but I've been gradually moving away from my previous pack-rat behavior as much as I can. Seeing as how I have to simply sell off my old things to bring the total number in balance though, there's really no limit to how many razors I can procure.
