Hi gents,
I want to make dry box for my shaving equipments and wondering if anyone on this forum has ever done it before. I'm thinking maybe I can use Silica Cat Litter and pour some in a plastic box pre-drilled with holes then put it where I keep my shaving equipments. Will this work?
Cheers,

All my straights are in boxes with dessicant packs so your idea makes sense. I put cigar silica beads in panty hose for lack of a better air permeable container...:).

Do you change/reactivate the silica gel regularly? How do you know when it needs changing?

Thats a good point. I dont know really. If you use the cat litter an opaque color is dry and clear is wet. If you go all out maybe a cheap cigar hygrometer can tell you what you need. I use the small ones that come in the asian food packages,
So when I get a new one i just exchange em out.

A nice way to do this is to incorporate a small light bulb in the bottom of the box. This added heat will both decrease the RH in the box and add convected ventilation, but it will also make all your shaving stuff already warm when you use it.

get some drierite it what anyone who wants to keep things dry uses. Its anhydrous calcium sulphate. it's blue when dry and turns pink when wet. you can roast it in the oven to drive off the moisture and use it again so one jar lasts forever. one pound is around $5
