Ok, I've been shaving with the new R41 everyday for at least four months now, and decided I want to add a razor the rotation. I didn't want to lose much aggressiveness, so I decided to go with a slant. Have never used one. Is there anything I need to know before first use? The R41 purrs like a kitten for me now, so I'd hate to cut myself open not knowing how to use the slant. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The only "secret" about a slant is loading the blade. Hold everything so the edge of the blade is parallel with the cap edge as you look straight down from above the head while you lock it down. Then all the standard rules about no pressure, find the angle, etc.
They are not as unruly as they look.

+1- The first time I loaded a slant I thought, "What am I doing here?" But the shave was surprisingly easy, pleasant and not especially difficult. If you have tamed the R41, a slant should present a nice alternative. Enjoy!

I don't own the new Muhle R41, but the Slant is an efficient razor with decent aggression.

If you can use a 2011 R41, then you'll be able to use a slant. It was a very smooth shaver for me.

I had a R41 for a while. I now own a 37c and a Fatip. Both of them feel like a kitten compared to the R41. They may be aggressive in their own right, but once I had gotten used to the R41 nothing else came close.
I traded the R41 for the Fatip, and never looked back. I love my slant and the Fatip, and use them when I'm not in the mood for a straight.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. The razor should be in today. So it sounds like I just need to be careful loading it, and use all other normal precautions? I'm excited about using the slant. The R41 gives me what I was hoping for from DE shaving, but as we all know this isn't a chore it's a hobby, and part of the fun is using different items. Thanks again.

I've used the 37C and currently use the 39C. To be honest I found it easier to shave with than the DE89 and so much more smoother. Just remeber proper blade angle and light pressure and you will be surprised at how easy the slant is.

That's interesting, because I have been using a 37G for a couple of years, and just got an R41 today! I found the slant to be VERY smooth with it's slicing action. Can't wait to try the R41.

I've found that after loading a slant a few times (I have a 39C), it isn't any trouble at all. I've gotten a drastic improvement in shave quality over my normal DE razor (Merkur 23C long handle). The angled blade on the slant has really improved the quality of my shave and lessened the irritation. I hope you enjoy the 37C; I've got my eye on it, too, as a shorter handled version.
