Sorry guys, couldn't find it.
I was looking at Omega brushes and I saw they carry "imitation badger" hair brushes. I always thought imitation badger was thinned out, dyed boar hair. It didn't say what material these were made from. Anybody know?

It usually just means boar bristle dyed to look like badger.

I believe that's a synthetic brish you're looking at.

Omega sells brushes that have "Imitation Badger" hair, some are dyed boar and some are synthetic.
Don't assume your getting boar just because it says "Imitation badger".
Here's a link to their website where they clearly call a synthetic brush "imitation badger"

And here's a link where they call dyed boar bristle "imitation badger"

Do you have any idea how many poor, innocent naugas have to give their lives for one naugahyde couch?

Imitation badgers are really mean ducks that wear the pelts of roadkill. Two weeks ago I caught one in a predator trap. It had just completely savaged the chicken I left in there as bait. This one had the pelts of three squirrels, ten mice and the back half of a raccoon bonded to it's feathers. I about lost three fingers releasing it from the trap. They really should charge more for imitation badger hair.

Pretty much this. Fortunately they're clearly marked as "pure bristle" (boar) or "synthetic" before you could find the "imitation badger" descriptor. In other words, they don't lump all "imitation badgers" together on their website, and then subdivide them into "boar" and "synthetic".
For what it's worth, I have an Omega 643174 Synthetic and it's a treat to use.

I have the 643186 synthetic (Phil @ Bullgoose calls it "Lucretia Borgia") and it's my best brush for bowl-lathering creams. It is *not* a good brush for face-lathering in my experience, as the tips of the bristles poke...it's a brush best used to paint on lather. But it bowl-lathers creams like crazy!

Without getting into detail, and to keep things simple:
Imitation badger is fake badger.

An imitation badger's (richlittleus gorshinicus meles) favorite food is imitation crabmeat.

This one is open for all sort of jokes.... It is something that resembles the badger pattern, like others have said, likely boar or synthetic.
