I have just ordered the shaving cream from Penhaligon's and observed that the EdT is on special offer in 500ml. The 100ml is £80, the 500ml reduced to £135! Even used every day, let alone in a rotation, would the 500ml bottle remain useable for an unlimited period of time? It looks a good deal compared to the 100ml, but that's a few years of use there!

Yes it will be unlimited use if stored properly. If you like BB then snag this!

Thanks for the reply. I am going to wait for the cream to arrive first though, to assess the scent before committing

...if you don't mind smelling like Pine-Sol.

LOL. Lemon pledge, not pine-sol. Guerlain Vetiver smells like pine sol!

Don't let them scare you off. This is probably my favorite summertime scent of all time. I got a sample in a sample pack from a member here a while back and it's amazing. I just can't convince myself to pull the trigger on this. I'm a cheapskate.

It's been around for quite a few years now, so can't be that bad. Like I said, I'll wait for the cream to arrive, then take the plunge if I like it.

One of Pens more polarizing scents to be sure. It's definitely not for everyone. It smells like lemon and pepper on me and lasts about 2 hours. I'll be passing on it in all sizes, but some guys really like it.

“Lemon Pledge very pretty, puts a shine down lemon good…”

The knock I have on it is that it's $110 and lasts a few minutes. But it's a holy grail scent to many guys here. YMMV on longevity.

If you like it, swell, but I would advise you try to get a sample to test wear. It is an infamous scent and well regarded as a classic, but the most consistent knock on it is that it is a very fleeting scent.

Definitely try a sample before you buy. You can order from B&B vendors, or buy a little tin of samples from Pen's. Sometimes they'll even send free ones. Shoot them an email and tell them that you just bought the cream and are thinking about the EdT. Odds are they'll send you some.

Personally, I think that BB is one of the most unremarkable and uninteresting fragrances that I've ever tried. If you soaked a couple of pine needles and a pinch of peppercorns in a can of San Pellegrino Limonata overnight and then splashed it on, you'd have something very close to Blenheim Bouquet. If you like the idea of pine and citrus, I'd definitely try Pino Silvestre before springing for a bottle of BB at any price. Trumper's Wellington is another less expensive option.

My bottle is about 4, or so years old. Still smells great. Has not lost anything off the top, and or bottom notes that I can detect. When this bottle runs out I will order another without hesitation.

By all accounts, the cream smells nicer than the Lemon Pine Sol of the EDT. I firmly believe that if you blindfolded people and told them nothing along the lines of "Winston Churchill wore Blenheim Bouquet!" the majority would not be impressed by the fragrance.

I love the entire line of BB items. The shampoo is even stellar. YMMV

BB was the first scent that really blew my socks off. I've found other scents that 'wow' me more since, but I still really like it. As others have mentioned, it wears pretty light - but I've found you can go pretty heavy on the sprayer without it being overwhelming. I do about four sprays to my chest, put on my undershirt and then two or three sprays to my shirt. Have never had anyone complain - including my wife - that it was too strong. As to the smell, I love the lemon opening (and I also love Mouchoir de Monsieur which also is sometimes compared to Lemon Pledge). As it dries down the lemon diminishes while the pine increases. In the middle I get a really pleasant herbal accord that reminds me of first lemon thyme, then thyme. That gives way to a pure pine. Mostly a hot weather scent for me so I haven't worn it recently though.

I really don't care for the BB EdT, but strangely enough I think the shaving and bath soaps smell great.

Thanks for all the comments, gentlemen, and it's certainly appears to be a love or hate affair with BB. A sample seems the best way forward I think.

You'll find after spending a bit of time in the frag forum that this is the case with nearly every scent. There are very few if any that garner universal praise. Scent is one of the most subjective of measures. It's not quite as cut and dry such as how well a cream or soap performs, how close a blade shaves, etc. (which can also be debated to a certain extent).

Sampling is always the best bet. It doesn't matter if 100 people on the forum rave about it. You might still disagree.
