I've read mostly good reports on performance but mixed reviews of the scent. Well, to me, it's wonderful. It could easily become my favorite shave cream (but I'm still working my way through some GFT samples and have a tube of TOBS lavender coming).

Cella is a great soap/cream. I went through a whole tub of it and after a while I found the scent a little cloying but there's no question that it's a top performer.

The key, probably, is to mix it up. I've got a number of other creams and soaps to use (variety being the spice of life and all).

I find I use my Italian soft soaps (Cella, P.160, and Vitos) more often than any others. They just seem to call me to them for some reason. I do mix it up though. Heck I even plopped the stick of Arko on the counter and have been using it for the past few days to give myself a break. Now what next. hummm too many soaps, not enough whiskers to go around. I might need to start shaving twice a day

Even my 12 year old liked the smell of it and he hates all my stuff.

I had the same impulse. If you actually try a bit, it will cure the impulse forever :)

Been using Cella almost exclusively for the last three weeks. What an incredible soap/cream!!!

Smells great! Lathers up quickly and plentyfull! Cheap! Actually feels like it makes my shave more forgiving! Did I mention it smells great??!!

Even my trusted DR Harris Marlborough cream has been on the shelf since Cella made it into my routine.

I really, really like this stuff. It could easily be the only soap I used but with so many things out there not to mention in my cabinet, I have to force myself to use them all. Today, I used a bit of GFT coconut oil cream from their sampler. Stupidly good cream with a nice scent but I can't wait until it's gone so I can go back to my Cella.

I ordered some stuff and received a sample of Cella. It is now my favorite.

Damn finger.

It's really hard to end up with a favorite as so many of these products are so good but the fragrance of Cella (if you like marzipan) is to die for. That it works so well and is reasonably priced is a bonus!

I finally ordered some myself a few nights ago. I cant wait to try it. Hopefully it is as great as everyone says.

Well, you know the B&B motto: YMMV

But it's hard for me to imagine anyone who likes almond scent not liking this. It certainly has filled my almond jones.

I am currently using TOBS Almond.. and it's primo. Cella is on the list. I'd like to see a comparison of the two creams... i'm off to look it up now.

This thing is almond scented? Uggghhh....should have researched this more. :a32:

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a tub of this last night, along with Tabac after shave. I responded to a thread last week about not buying anything in 2012 and I've already blown my wet shaving resolution.

Still have not shaved today (been too busy).... Still time to hit the Cella once again... Now I only need to decide on which brush to use... The boar is still too wet so it will have to be one of the badgers or the horse hair... decisions decisions.....

Um, don't you want a wet brush?

Um, don't you want a wet brush?

It is new so I want it to dry completely between shaves for the first week +/- so that it breaks in nicely.

Besides that is a good excuse to break out one of the brushes that has not seen the light of day for a while.

I think I will dig out the Vie-Long 13061 horse hair for this evenings shave. It's been over a week so it is about time to rotate it in so that I don't think about selling it because of lack of use.

Not a fan of the scent at all, I ended up trading my tub away after 4-5 uses. I have tried Trumpers Almond too and I didn't like that either - no matter, plenty of creams I do enjoy - can't like them all.

I received a Cella sample with an order and tried it for the first time yesterday. Great stuff. For me, this stuff needs very little water. Was very surprised about that. Lots of great lather...one of the best in that category.
Since it is a hard cream, I had to smash it down a bit with my fingers, in my mug. Did 3 passes with my Muhle R89 and a Feather blade. Had veryyyyy minor irritation on neck but overall, this was great stuff. Will definitely be adding a tub to my collection.

For those concerned about the scent, it is mild and does NOT linger long at all.

How could anyone be concerned about the smell of Cella??

Just finished a shave this morning using Cella.

I won't do it but I'm tempted to throw out all my other soaps and creams and just use Cella.

It's cheap, smells great, easy to lather, slick...

I could go on and on about this great Italian product.

That's the problem, isn't it, David? It's definitely good enough to be the one and only but so are at least a dozen soaps/creams in my current stash. But I have yet to find one I like more than Cella. I just want that variety which keeps shaving from becoming a routine.

Very true.

The one exception for me has been my Merkur Futur.

And it doesn't become a routine because of the adjustable feature.

It can be a mild Tech one day or a aggressive OC another.

I know I'm going to get a lot of heap from Marco here but I feel confident and daring tonight :001_smile

I like Cella, it is a good cream no doubt about it, but I think Valobra is a notch better.

Better how?

I like the scent of Valobra better, and I think the performance of the cream is slightly better as well. Better glide and overall protection.
Don't get me wrong, they are a close match. I just prefer Valobra and as my view on things are right now, I won't be getting a new tub of Cella, but I will get a new Valobra when this one is used.

not to hijack the thread, but I was debating what to purchase as my next cream/soap. I am trying to stay as economical as I can. Right now I am using the Proraso I started with. I was going to buy Cella or T&H Authentic #10 next since they aren't too expensive. Any feedback on the T&H compared to Cella??

other question is, how do you pronounce the name??? Is it Che-lah? Is it Sea-lah? Sell-lah? Just curious, don't want to sound ignorant if I mention the name.

My personal opinion is that Cella is one of the finest creams available, either alone or by using it to make a fine uberlather (mixing Cella with a little C.O. Bigelow and 4-5 drops of liquid glycerine). Great scent, nice lather and a smooth shave every time!

Latherdude
01-11-2012, 12:27 AM
i'm really trying to perfect my technique in lathering soaps, so my Cella hasn't been getting much love lately. Cella just won't let you make a bad lather with it!! I have to use other stuff so that I know what I'm doing right and wrong; with Cella I could be doing it all wrong and it'd still come out all right!

Slick, creamy, and a mild, "clean" scent that doesn't linger or interfere with your aftershave. Easy as heck to lather. And cheap! Good stuff all around.
