Time to show off your haul, shaving stuff or otherwise. Remember, pictures or it never happened!

I received this as a Christmas present from SWMBO. She bought it from the Scrimshaw Gallery in Sausalito CA when she went there a few months back. It has pre-ban ivory scales engraved by scrimshander Gerry Dupont. The detail is very nice considering it is only a little knife, the scales are only 2" long. The knife is made by Bear MGC.

The only problem, of course, is it is almost too nice to carry and use. What do you guys think, carry it or keep it nice as a keepsake/ collectable?

That is beautiful. I would probably not carry it every day, but it is to nice to be framed and never touched. Or maybe it is so nice that is the only answer? I don't know. I do want one for myself though, congratulations!

Very nice gift there. I say dont carry it every day. How bad would you feel when it slipped out of a pocket when you sat down or fell and got a nice chip in it. I also hate to see useful items like firearms / knives / etc never get used. I say leave it at home or work somewhere that it can be used occasionally but still in a safe environment (depending on where you work it may not be safe at all from theft but...).

I was supposed to get DR Harris Marlborough, but a PM got deleted. Oh well, just have to buy it myself (plus Lavender and a few other things to save on shipping )

My dear wife bought me a Kindle Fire. I did not see that one coming. She certainly surprised me with it. With all the hype about the Fire I did not figure I would need to post a photo.

Cheers, Todd

I've posted this in another thread, but I can't resist. Here's my Peterson Aran.

I'm still waiting for my strop and coticule to arrive (it spent 4 days in Customs and still hasn't left!).

As to the knife I do recommend myself, keeping it as a letter opener(I keep a knife handy for just that... and as the occasional back scratcher.. lmao.. not highly recommended....) and carrying in on formal occasions... but not as something you would carry camping!

Unfortunately I do not have any pictures as I lack a camera and my phone does not seem to like to allow me to upload photos... however I got: EJ89L razor with Omega shaving kit, Art Easel with Oil Painting stuff, tea pot with a couple teas (recommendation avoid Warwick Assam.. :( however the Earle Grey is nice :) ), as well as money towards a record player (got one, but it did not work well so the person is returning it for me..), as well as assorted giftcards.... Yes the joys of being spoiled!

SWMBO is to be congratulated! That knife is too beautiful for daily use, but I reckon that you'd regret not using it. If it were mine, I'd keep it on display and only give it light duty tasks.
