I recently used a Fatboy for the first time. I sent it to three, as I do with my Slim and proceded. I've used this same Slim, off and on, since '64 and on 3 it is a fairly mild razor. The Fatboy seemed more aggressive and I could have gone an extra twelve hours without shaving again (It seemed to cut closer.). Is there a difference in the heads?

rick-
i have heard that the fat boy is one to two clicks more agressive than the slim. i use a slim on 6-7 and the fat boy on 4-5. i really enjoy both of them. i had been getting great shaves from both.
cheers,
ryan

There is a difference. Just like when you started using the Slim, start with a low number and work your way up the dial until you find a setting that suits you.
It's a very good razor (or they wouldn't sell for such big bucks on ebay) but you just have to experiment with it for a while until you are accustomed to it. After all you've been using the same razor since 1964...
Give it a chance...
And as always...
Enjoy y our shave...

Thanks All.
I was suprised by the way that the fatboy handles. For the record, the Slim isn't the only razor that I've used since '64. I have a liking for open comb Gillettes, Schicks and straights. I rotate through maybe ten different razors and the only modern one is a 38C.

It was most likely the added weight of the razor.

There is a difference in the heads. The fat boy had a "taller" head which is more like the 1940's superspeeds. The slim has a "narrower" head which is more like the superspeeds from 1959 onwards.
