Result: Blade Testing today with Treet Blue Steel blades. More drag than a lot of other blades in the Merkur HD 34C. 4.5/5.0 Shave even though I shaved left handed on the right side of my face. Tomorrow I will start shaving left handed to get used to it so I can improve my STR8 and Feather ACD-N techniques.

Jim has such a good eye for composition. I'm always getting ideas from his pics.

When I first found the B&B forum I was trying to re-learn to shave with a straight. I kinda got side-tracked collecting DE's, but getting to the point of pure straight is my goal!:001_cool:

This starts my 2nd week of just useing the DE for touch up around the chin and a stubborn area on the right side of my neck. I'm getting better. Once I get my home theater back up and running, I need to watch Lynn's DVD again.

Looking forward to my first pure straight shave!

Result: 4.4/5.0 The new STR8 needs some more honing. Has a nice heft and feel to it. I then went to the 34C HD Classic/Treet for the second pass. Didn't like the result and finished up with the 37C Slant Bar/Feather. Much better thank you. I froze my face with the Olbas oil and Thayers Aftershave. Smooth and cool.

The AS works very well and is a good fit for my dryish skin.

This product has a fairly strong scent that stays with me for awhile.

I cannot describe it better than the scent of Ivory soap.

I always get a great shave with this Combo.

Me, I lathered up some TOBS avocado cream with my Vulfix 377.

Scraped it off with my Feather AC

... hmm ...

Another round of the lather

Another scrape-off ... ah! Now, it's time for some Dickinson's witch hazel. Wait a minute ... wait for it ... okay now we'll splash on some Pinaud Clubman. Rub a bit of Pashana tonic through the scalp, and we're ready for a nice "ooh you semll nice what is that smell I like" compliment from the GF. :001_wub:

Result: 2.5/5.0 Blew it. I should have stuck to one pass since I'm just starting with this razor. I was OK until I went 45XTG. Picked up 3 weepers and some irritation. On the good side, I got a very close shave. I probably would have ended up with a great shave if I had left it one pass and clean up with a DE. Rats. Anherb to the rescue.

Omega Boar was a pleasant surprise (for 8 euros).
After soaked in hot water, it was turned a way much softer, produced a nice Proraso lather, kept warm and face friendly.
I think it suits to soaps, especially Proraso.

Typical morning hot shower and light face wash with lather left on to soak while building a "Superlather" with Proraso Soap and Musgo Real cream, mixed and applied with the Arlington in Pure.

Two passes with a just cleaned gold Slant paired with a fresh Derby.

This was followed up with the AOS ALum Block, Tabac AS, MB's Winter ASB (my face is dry for some reason) and lastly Tabac EDC splash.

What a wonderful start to the day!!!!!

Result: 4.2/5.0 Still healing up bottom of nexk but I got close to BBS. Used the The Shave Den Bergamot Shave Soap for the first time and the Floid Italian Aftershave. First impressions of the soap are very good. Lathered quickly, nice subtle scent, good quality lather with slickness, cushion and moisturizing. The Floid Italian aftershave is a very nice. Now, I wonder what the Spanish and Blue are like. Oh well.

I have a Futur and have to buy new blades. Are the Tesco ones any good? Are they SO good that you have them sent all the way to Oklahoma, or did you just pick them up in the UK?

They are really very good. If I lived in the UK there would be no other (probably, but then again, once a shave geek always a shave geek:smile: ). My normal favored fare is the Feather Hi Stainless. Interesting point though, the Futur is such a flexible implement that I find that I can tune it for exceptional performance and comfort with Merkurs also.

While embracing the geekery with both arms and a leg, I am hesitant to make such a sweeping statement. In the rarefied air of Penhaligon's, Floris DR Harris and Trumper all of which I have embraced with the prior mentioned vigor, the C&S has over the last 2 months or so not failed to impress even this triple milled jaded face every time I have shaved with it.

Is it twice as good as Trumper? 50% better than DR Harris? No I cannot say that, these soaps almost any difference would be measured with decimal point first.

There is something about it though that makes me take notice of the lather just a bit more often than with the other five diamond soaps.

My shave was so awful tonight, I'm definately not taking a picture to commemorate it. :thumbdown I did 4 passes (I normally do 3) and it feels like I didn't even do a one full pass. I must have gotten a bad blade, immediately after the shave I chucked it and will open up another new one tomorrow.

I used the Treet Blade instead of the Feather because that is what I had in the razor from before. It still does not cut as smooth as I'd like and this is the 3rd blade I've tried.

Item to note: Had been camping in Maine for four days so I had five days of growth - VERY scruffy on my first shave this week. I used an IP with the Merkur 38C. The shave was excellent however when I tried to use the blade again the next day it was shot, lots of tugging. I assumed I coulda gotten another day or out of it as I usually get three sometimes four shaves with an IP.

This is my first experience with nearly all of these products (except Musgo and IPs). And all I can say is Holy Crap! All of them are outstanding! I got a great BBS shave in 3 passes with no touch ups with a very moderately sharp blade. I cannot recommend any of the above products enough. The MWF is truly outstanding, I used the Col. Conk shaving mug and lathered right on my face with the D1, great lather and so moisturizing. The Aristocrat really is a top notch razor as well, especially with so many low prices on this razor, I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.
