Got some Old Spice, Vostok, and Queen Charlotte on the way! Is Old Spice going to be a new scent or will it be discontinued on Dec 23rd?

Wow, just the other day I was researching your soaps and found the old Christmas sale for last year and hoped you'd do it again this year.

Merry Christmas Mathew!

Matthew,

Thanks for the generous offer! I took advantage of your Christmas sale and placed an order just a little while ago for some vetiver shaving soap, Wim's No. 3 shaving cream, anise body soap and a lemon and bergamot shampoo bar. My thought is that your lemon and bergamot shampoo bar would go very well with the much beloved, legendary and highly regarded bergamot and coriander products offered on a hit-and-miss basis by Bath & Body Works.

And yes, the 0.5 oz sample of Versailles shaving cream.

My wife and I are very pleased with every product you have offered that is in my current rotation; particularly the bespoke "Licorice And Sage" Yardley clone shaving cream.

Very warmest regards to you and your mother, and may you both have a very merry and blessed Christmas!

David

Question: I'm trying to decide which to get soap or cream. Your site says the cream is a hard cream. Is it like the consistency of Cella? Do you still load it like a soap, or is it soft enough that it needs to be scooped out an lathered in a mug? Thanks

As an avowed fan of the QCS creams, I'd say...either!

I'm not familiar with Cella, KJ. I typically dig out an almond-size piece with a popsicle stick when I'm using one of the 0.5 oz sample containers, then smear it in the bottom of my lather bowl, put a couple of drops of warm water on it, shower, and it's ready to go when I am. I've loaded the little Omega badger/boar mix brush straight from the sample container by giving it several spins, and I load my regular brushes, slightly damp, just like you would a soap, then build my lather in the bowl. They're plenty firm, but easy to dig out with a finger or wooden stick.

I load mine like a soap with better results than scooping. There was a video a while back (maybe Matthew can link the video) of QCS being lathered where someone scooped some out and kind of smeared/pressed it into the bottom of a lathering bowl, this is what I did with the samples and it worked great, but now that I have the full tub I load it like a soap (which also makes for better face lathering). I would also say it is harder than Cella.

Thanks Panada. I think I dug up the video you are talking about. This does help a bit. From the video it does appear similar to Cella, which is harder than I expected it to be. But it did help me figure out what to order.

I prefer to face lather, so I usually load from the tub of cream then move straight to my face. The cream is VERY hard and you actually need to spend some time loading your brush like you would with a soap. I actually spend less time loading my brushes with MWF or Williams or QCS Soaps than I do with QCS creams. That's one thing I liked about the older QCS creams...they were softer and I learned to lather with them...maybe I just need to load on the new creams longer. One thing I just realized, too, is that I usually put a teaspoon of water on my soaps while I shower to let it soften. Maybe I'll try that with my QCS Basilica cream tomorrow. :) The soaps are very nice, too, and they feel a bit spongy when you press on them...more like L'Occitane than MWF.

I have not used Cella. I would load the creams like a soap.

That pushed me over the edge. I have a sample of Vostok cream a friend gave me, and it's beyond awesome, it's the soap for warm days and those early mornings you can't barely open your eyes. If you're not wide awake and freezing by the end of your shave, you're dead.

Ordered a Vetiver cream, Vostok cream, shampoo bar (I'm highly skeptic to shampoo bars, but got to try it) and a soap dish.

That's about the way I do it. I use a not to wet but warmed brush and go after the soap in the tub like it was a puck in a mug.

Matthew, I'm surprised no one has asked this yet: is your Old Spice Type meant to smell like contemporary Old Spice on the shelf today, or the older formulation?

Already looking forward to picking out my samples!

currently look to add a couple more QCS (to accompany my Briar & Tangerine) and was thinking of a sample pack...how many shaves do you figure you can get out of each sampler?

also, is there any shipping promos for CANADA?

Bruce, I get 8-10 easy from a sample container (got around 15-16 of them!). I use them for travel; much more convenient than a tube, and smaller than a stick.

You really should have, it's the face freeze soap that rules above all. I had a small sample and just ordered a full version. THE perfect soap for hot days and early mornings you need to wake up. Insane really, watch out for frostbite! Love it.

Hi Matthew, I am thoroughly enjoying your shave creams and soaps and rate them at the top with the best. Not knowing all that you have offered in the past have you considered doing a fougere similar to Trumper's Wild Fern or Penhaligon's English Fern, Trumper's Spanish Leather and Trumpers Cologne? Thanks for the sale and the great products and service, Ron

I prefer offering unique scents. The Green Irish Tweed Type I offer was a popular demand, with the real thing costing many more times more than what I charge, while the Old Spice Type is being offered because the real thing is no longer in production.

At this point, it may be appropriate to thank you for your limited production run of the No. 3 soap.
I love this soap, and I hope the gentlemen here at B&B who tried it liked it as much as I do.

Thanks!

They do not, but we could also create a custom scent for you. For this particular scent, there would be no minimum order quantity. Please send me an e-mail (http://www.queencharlottesoaps.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us) if you are still interested. Thank you!
