This morning I overslept due to alarm clock not being set. I only had about a minute for shaving and could not pass on shaving. I was in dilemma and ended up grabbing my Schick hydro like I was accustomed to before de shaving the past two months. I was hesitant but it was not bad and the closeness was similar to my EJ89 (lot less time) although my face was not quite as happy as when it is pampered with the various creams I use with de shaving. I used to shave in the shower with the hydro and no shaving cream and it was fine. But two months ago I acquired a Gillette adjustable that used to be my Dad's and began my de voyage. Been having a great time. After spending a little over $400 on separate orders for a EJ89 barley chrome, Muhle R41 and Merkur 39C along with a nice stash of creams, soaps, blades, brushes and aftershave I have nice set up which will takes years for me to profit from if I stop spending  since I probably only changed cartridges once every six weeks. Yet I do now have a nice set up to enjoy through the years along with a connection to the past, the experience along with the smells that linger through the day in my bathroom from shaving which remind me of that barbershop experience growing up, which I love, is worth it.

Nothing wrong with a cartridge shave if it works and time is short!

Tried the Hydro for the first time this morning and I didn't like it at all. To me the experience is NOTHING like using a DE. Sure, the end result can be similar, but these things just tug and pull in a most uncomfortable manner.

Changed cartridges once every 6 weeks?! Wow. I never understood.that. No matter what blades I used cartridges were changed after every shave, or I would get irritation galore, and not a good shave, hence my entry into the de world. Even with de blades I change every shave as they are so cheap compared to carts. I guess I have steel wool for whiskers or something because everyone I know thinks im nuts having changing carts so often
