So far I like the smoothness of the 40s SS, the redtip feels sort of awkward in my hands.
I received an Aristocrat (40s-50s) and I really like it, preferred it over my fatboy so I sold the fatboy.
I have no 3 piece razors in my collection, are there any really worth buying that will impress me more than the 1 pieces I have now?
How about the slim? Am I destined to hate it like I did the fatboy or should I give it a shot.

The Gillette NEW's either long or short comb are pretty good three piece razors which provide great shaves IMHO. YMMV

I don't think anyone here is capable of telling you what you will or won't like.

Worth is always highly subjective. You'd have to try the options out there to find out.

I'm capable! I can tell him! You will like the NEW. You will like the NEW.
No, really, they are fine shavers. Especially, IMHO, ones that have been replated in nickel.

2-piece Merkur 34C HD will impress you (positive or negative way).

I should have made it clear, I was referring to mere mortals. Stewards are capable.

I was hoping for more of a "direction" rather than telling me what I like... sort of like those threads calling out "enablers" to come convince them haha!

Muhle R89. They are a good price, extremely well made, perfectly balanced and a fantastic razor. I don't think you'll find a better value razor. The Edwin Jagger DE range use the same head as the Muhle and are equally well made, but they are a good deal heavier and therefore not as balanced or controllable, however YMMV. I find both of these razors a country mile better than my 1953 Gillette SS.

The first time I tried an Old Type, I was addicted to 3 piece razors, more specifically 3 piece open comb razors. My three Old Types led to the purchase of two New's, and later on an R41. They are all great razors IMO, I am stuck on the R41 right now, its been a fantastic razor for me, but as with almost everything related to wet shaving, YMMV.
