I just received a Semogue 2011 LE boar (size 2) brush from Bullgoose.
I was all excited to get it, but when I started test-lathering with it (to start the break-in) it started shedding like crazy. I was wondering if this was expected. None of the Semogue boar brushes I've used before (I've used a bunch) have shed at all.
---
Some details: I let the bristles soak in warm water for about 15 min before I started lathering. I made a very watery lather with some Fraser's cream. It shed 12+ hairs that time.
This morning, I tried it again, and again it shed 8-10 hairs. Some were complete hairs and some were bits. I know the second lathering was too soon and that the hairs were still damp from last night's test-lather, but I was curious about the shedding.
Anyway, it's been 20+ hairs over two test latherings. Seems a bit much to me.
I know Phil will stand by the product, so I'm not worried about my money - I just would like people's opinions on whether this is normal or not, and when I should give up and contact Phil about a return.
Thanks.
