I'm still having a tough time regulating the humidity level in my humidor. It was too high, so I cleared it out and let the level drop down to 67%. I got a bundle of 20 cigars in the mail and put them in the humidor and the levels went back up past 80%. I know the dealers tend to ship cigars on the humid side, but what's a good way to regulate the humidity? I have a cedar humidor, how long should it take before the wood absorbs the excess humidity?
I know I should probably wait to smoke them, but as I only have one humidor and can't afford to buy as many as I would like to smoke at my local B&M, I broke into them. Maybe someday when I hit the lottery...

Take a look at the Boevda self regulating packets. I usually use the 69 on top of one of the gelled solutions in a jar. The packets has to be replaced every few months but does a good job of self regulating. I have not had an issue with to high or low since using the Boveda. They have several different humidities to choose from as well.

That doesn't sound right. The humidity shouldn't spike like that, especially if the new cigars are in cello.
You sure the hygro isn't messed up? You using digital?

After you put that many new cigars in a regular sized humidor wait a couple days before doing anything. That will give the humidity time to stabilize. Until you get things figured out you can take a cigar out the day before you smoke and give it time to dry out a little.

If you're stuffing a small humidor full of cigars with the cello on, you're making the available air space inside too small for your humidifying device. It's not really affecting the cello wrapped cigars, but can affect any unwrapped ones. Just a guess, maybe post a pic of your set up.

The digital hygro is the one decent thing I have right now.

It's pretty packed, I got another humidor yesterday to split it up. I do keep my cigars "dressed".

That can happen especialy if you are just using water in your humidifier, there's no evaporation control. If your not using it already, get some PG solution, also known as "cigar juice". It releases moisture at a more controled rate, you can still over do it, just not as easily. Also make sure your humidifier is not right next to, or right under your hygrometer, false readings and all that.

Congrats, you have a working humidor that keeps humidity in, much better than a humidor that can't. I would suggest two easy fixes:
1, buy another hygrometer, it's always nice to have two in your humidor to give you a nice accurate range.
2, buy a jar of the crystal gels and put them in your humidor dry. The crystals serve as a two way humidification process. They will pull the extra moisture out of the air when your levels get to high and they are only about $5-10.

If your humi is just a small one, try the Drymistat tube with PG solution. I have a 25-50 small humidor and I was having problems with the puck and Drymistat with water. Once I started using just the PG Solution and Drymistat it has settled to just about 69rh constantly. It will jump up to maybe 75rh when I first put a bunch in that are new, I take a business card folded over once or twice and slip it in to keep the lid propped up a smidge for a couple days and it will come down fine. Just my experience.
