Gents:
I’ve met up a few times with Sir Nix Alot to trade items, have some coffee and try to figure out why the rest of the civilized world hasn’t joined us in our favorite hobby (addiction?).
We had a thought: Why not see if others are interested too?
So here is a proposed idea. Following the holidays we all meet on a Saturday morning at a local Starbucks for an hour or two. It strikes me as convenient for city and suburban residents to have it off a major expressway midway between the city and suburbs. The place we have met before already fits the bill being just off Interstate 55 in Burr Ridge at County Line Road. It is a Starbucks big enough for us to push some tables together and hand stuff around.
For now, just weigh in if interested. I guess the idea would be to bring stuff to show around the table and bring stuff to trade. The bonus is we get to put faces to Avatars! It might be we could have a raffle drawing with guys kicking in an item to raffle off, that sort of thing.

depending on the date i would be interested in going i did not really meet anybody at the expo at the palmer house i just need notice as for i work sat mornings and would need to sched it in advance with work. as for the gift idea i think it is a good idea because there are items i know i have wanted to try like (a bayrum product ) that in the store i am not 100% sold on but hear great things and do not really want to spend the money on a bottle and not like it. so if you want to do like a fave product exchange or sample size of multiple fave products either way i think its a good idea plus like you said get to know the people we speak to every day. as for a product to raffle off i think thats a great idea i know ill chip in something it just gives me another reason to go to merz and "look" around.

I'm down. I've enjoyed meeting up with Scott.
Scott is a great guy. I met up with him to discuss the aftershave that he makes (http://www.captainschoicestore.com/p/testimonials.html). Ended up meeting him a few more times and enjoying talking about shaving and other interesting topics. Interesting guy, lots to talk about. We even talked about this get together (his idea).
We swapped last time and I came out ahead; he hooked me up with a lot of nice creams and aftershaves (including his own) that I have been using with my Grandfathers pre-1947 Milord.
First meeting - we could have a blade swap? We all have blades right? I have a few kinds on hand and I always like trying new ones. If anyone has some Gillette 7 O'clocks (any color) I would be delighted to try them out. I have some Dorcos, Red Personna, Voskhog, Feathers, Derby, and a few more I cant think of off the top of my head. I can bring a few of each kind to trade. Unless you want more.
I was going to bring my Milord to show Scott the next time we met - so you can check that out too. Be nice to meet some of you.

I was thinking just the same thing myself. This is utterly random but let me pick a date in January and it must be a Saturday so let’s go with January 21.
So put it on your calendars for January 21, 9:00 a.m. at the Starbuck’s in Burr Ridge right off County Line Road. I count ten of us or so. Sir-Nix-Alot, can you stop at the Starbuck’s talk to the manager and explain that ten thirsty, clean shaven guys would like to drink his coffee - can we count on the manager to allow us to push together some tables?
Secondly, I’ll PM a moderator and try to get permission to post a notice on the General Forum and a few others that we are gathering.
It will be great to meet for a time. I will bring an item (cannot discuss the item as this is a non-commercial forum and it is important to keep commercial stuff in the commercial forums) that will go to the lucky winner of our names in the hat drawing. Also, count on me having free samples for those who didn’t win the drawing - no losers! Is there anyone else who might bring an item to raffle off? It would be fun to have several items to raffle off and perhaps if you have an unusual item bring it to show around.
Feel free too if you want to bring stuff to trade or swap, no problem. I’m in it for the fellowship mainly and am looking forward to meeting everyone!

If not, that's cool too.

I just corresponded with a moderator regarding a post in another forum. As with much here, common sense prevails. Posting in another forum isn’t allowed because if everyone were to do so.... etc. which makes sense to me upon reflection. It must be contained to the appropriate forum - that is the whole point of the sub forms.
Here is what we are allowed to do. If you know of another member here at B&B who live in the area but may not know of the Get Together, jot them a PM.
Here is the important part: Please do not make this a campaign nor are we to in any way badger (sorry, couldn’t resist) guys into attending. Just a very simple note of awareness, “Hey, over on the Get Together forum there is a local gathering."
Now, before we even do this - how does this sound? I am very cool with not PMing anyone and just keep it the ten of us or so. Numbers isn’t everything but I have read of other gatherings and afterwards the anguish of others who just didn’t know.
Maybe weigh in over the next few days - which way do we want to go? Keep it here and if they find it fine and if they don’t, oh well. Or do we politely let others know of it? Life being what it is if we have ten for sure attending, when the morning arrives there will be six of us. That is just how these things are.
Let us all know what you think and we can proceed.

If I can make it I will bring an item to raffle. The time and distance may hinder me unforuntaely. With my back, I am not usually moving so well in mornings. Comming from northwest and current gas prices is pricey with my 4wd. If money is still tight I will have to pass. Hopefully I will have some resolution on some things before then but not holding my breath. I am sure all will have a good time.

You try the tequila lime?
Not yet. I have the Bay Rum and absolutely love it! It is creamier and goopier than any other cream I have tried. It also whips up easier than other creams I have tried. It just seems to be the most luxurious cream I have ever tried. I smelled the tequila lime yesterday at the Merz Apopthecary in Chicago, and knew instantly I had to have it. A little dab goes a very long way! At some point I will also have to add the eucalyptus mint. I like the Taconic better than AOS and GFT shave creams.

Just heard about this (thanks, JC!), and I'm fairly certain I am in. I'll have to clear it through the Weekend-Planner-In-Chief, but I think I'm probably in the clear.
BTW, my wife picked up a couple of those Taconic shave creams at the Merz get-together, which she put in my Christmas stocking. Bay Rum (because she loves the smell of Captain's Choice - I hope this doesn't disappoint) and Tequila Lime. Haven't had a chance to use them just yet, but they are on deck this week.

As Scott (Captain Pre-Capsize) mentioned in the very first post on this thread, "I guess the idea would be to bring stuff to show around the table and bring stuff to trade. The bonus is we get to put faces to Avatars!"
I thought I'd bring a few 5-packs of various blade types so that others can have the benefit of sampling something different or something they've been wanting to try. Hopefully those with unusual razors can bring them along so that everyone can see some models that were part of making shaving history in real life vs. merely online or in photos. Or maybe those who have tried various brushes, soaps/creams or after shaves, but didn't find them to their liking, would bring them along to trade. Any other ideas?

If the weather holds out I'd like to make it. But, what to bring?
I’ll be bringing a bottle of something to raffle off. (Hmmmm, I wonder what THAT might be???) Everyone puts their name in a hat and we pull out the winner! Also, I will have a consolation prize of one sample vial for everyone else to take home. There are no losers!
Some housekeeping:
1. SNL - can you check in with the Starbucks manager and give him / her a heads up? We need to push tables together, etc. How many of there are us? Is it ten or fifteen, thereabouts?
2. Is anyone willing to bring a fat magic marker and self adhesive name tags? This was the one thing missing at The Great Shave that would have been nice.
3. Is someone willing to take a few pics and be responsible for posting them on this link afterwards? Remember, if there aren’t any pics it didn’t happen!
Please respond if you are willing to cover the need for #2 and #3 so we know we are covered.
Also, I have a proposed name. With The Great Shave, there were folks flying in from all points of the compass to attend it struck me that we are all local so-to-speak. Thus...
The Close Shave
See you all in a week!

tommyguns,
The way I understand it, the only requirement is to bring yourself, and only IF you wanted to, to bring some item from your shaving den to "swap!" Along the way, I've tried many blade types, some of which worked for me and others that didn't. So I plan to bring a few 5-packs of various blade types for others who may want to try them. Others may opt to bring some of their more unusual razors for others to simply see, especially since there are always questions on the forum about what a particular razor feels like in the hand, how much it weighs, or what it really looks like. The primary purpose of this Close Shave Event is a "meet and greet," for Chicago-area participants to meet one another and to be able to associate a forum screen name with the face and real name of those we post with on a daily/weekly basis. The Great Shave Event down at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago this past November was great, but with well over 200 attendees and no name tags, there was no way to know who anybody was on the forum.
Just five more days until the Chicago Area Close Shave Event: Saturday, January 21st at 9:00AM at the Starbuck’s in Burr Ridge right off I-55 (Stevenson Expressway) and County Line Road.

I would like to offer up a gift for the event for I am more of a question asker then a Question answerer and feel it would be nice to give something back.Plus i dont really need anything right now so it gives me a reason to just go "look". hahaha

Ahoy Captain:
I received a very generous package from Howie of Parker and Taconic to raffle off. Based on my count, it looks like everyone will be a winner. Howie really has shown a tremendous amount of support to the wet shaving community, in that he has provided everything from razor blades, to Parker DE razors, to a beautiful faux horn Parker shaving brush. Also included in the raffle will be Taconic Shave Cream, which I understand Howie designed himself. How can you go wrong with a friendly people, a swap, coffee,
and shaving related items. This is going to be a very fun morning! I will see you all there.

The Close Shave has been POSTPONED.
I have waited as long as possible but they are calling for up to nine inches in some areas continuing through the night. I am in outside sales and it hasn’t been pretty all day long. If it were to stop this afternoon that would be one thing but it is going to keep up.
Two things just changed:
1. The Close Shave will be next Saturday, January 28 at 9:00 a.m.
2. WE HAVE CHANGED THE MEETING PLACE and for the better I might add!
We will be meeting at Panera Bread on Kingery in Willowbrook which is just a mile or two from our original spot. The BIG difference is we will have room and LOTS more selection to eat! Here is a link to the location: http://www.yelp.com/biz/panera-bread-willowbrook
Looking back on it, guys had quite rightly PM’d me a month ago and noted their attendance may depend on the weather and wouldn’t you know it... A baby was born, a couple others had to work at the last minute tomorrow and now methinks many of us will be shoveling tomorrow morning. So we roll with it, eh? We will have clear skies next week, a larger venue and work schedules that will permit better attendance. Easy decision!
Now to start PM-ing everyone who responded to make SURE they know (so long as they check their PMs).

I know it's a bit of a disappointment, but I'm looking on the bright side: I won't have to get out & start shoveling before the sun comes up tomorrow morning. (I'm a little over an hour away.) Almost certain I'm still in for next week as well.

Good idea for another time, we are set on the Willowbrook location for this Saturday.
Clutch has been considerate and posted a map for all of us. The weather looks great and ought not to be an issue. I’ll be stopping by there today to meet with the manager and give him/her a heads up on the Invasion of the Shaving Snatchers that will descend in three days. Will update tonight having spoken to them. At this point I don’t really have a count but will tell them up to a dozen. Most importantly and for the safety of all attendees I will be doing a preliminary and yet thorough evaluation of the consumable items rumored to reside therein. :a18:

What kind of stuff do they have?
I didn't know that they had shaving items. I went there when it was still at the mall and always like they guys that worked there. Usually just buy stogies from them. Just found out that they moved across the street; I'll have to scope them out the next time I am out that way.

They have a handfull of DE razors, Merkur brand mostly, I think he only carries merkur blades, he has a few brushes (nothing too expensive) I know he has Conk brand brushes, and the others I'm not sure of. They have mostly Col. Conk soaps, but a nice variety of them. Accessories such as stands and bowls and a few other things. Not a whole lot, but a few items for guys like me who like to handle stuff before buying. His prices are a little high on some things, and ridiculously high on others! I've still bought a few items from him just to support. He used to keep shaving stuff in a small corner of the store, now it's up front. So I wonder if he's selling more these days. This is actually the place where I first got geared up to take the plunge into wet shaving. It was downhill from there brother!! lol

OK Gentlemen, the time is nearly upon us!
See you at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday at the appointed spot.
I stopped by and had a great visit with the manager. Saturday morning is busy there but he will do his best to set aside an area and mark it “Reserved” for us. Below are pics - look for the large sign on the east side of Kingery Hwy (Route 83). Thanks to Clutch Cargo for the map and directions (above). The Panera backs right up to the large sign pictured. It was built just a few years ago and is an ideal spot for us. Thanks to JCinPA for the tip. As you walk through the front door make a hard right and that is where I hope for us to meet. I plan on being there around 8:30 to save chairs, elbow senior citizens out of the way, step on the feet of trespassers and erect a fence around our area for us.:wink2:
The best value is for each of us to get our own cup of coffee for a couple of bucks and then refills are free thereafter. Conveniently the refill station is next to our area. They have a great selection of pastries to pick from too. With a little arm twisting on my part there is an outside chance the chef may walk out with some free samples for us. Don’t count on it but there is a possibility of it.
I’ll have my stuff to raffle off as well as free samples for all attenders. This will be a blast - see you in a few days!

Guys:
The good news just gets better!
First the freebies, check this out:
I stopped by Merz Apothecary today and Anthony generously donated twelve shopping bags which are very handy for twelve lucky attenders. One makes up the blue background in the picture. He also donated two items to put into each of the bags unrelated to shaving. One is a retractable keychain thingy that goes on your belt and the other is a toothbrush sanitized holder. THANK YOU MERZ APOTHECARY and SMALLFLOWER.COM!!
It gets better. To each of the twelve bags I have added more. Each of them also has a small plastic bag in it. This bag contains two different aftershaves - Osage Rub and Topaz (by Masters). There is a small sample vial of Captain’s Choice bay rum aftershave as well as samplers of two different shave creams. I used a variety of shave creams so if your bag has samples you have already tried then swap with the guy next to you - his will be different. Those are the freebies.
http://i.imgur.com/1tDuvl.jpg
Now to the raffle. I am bringing two items, one bottle of Captain’s Choice bay rum aftershave and a full set of twelve different shave creams in a convenient sampler set that I put together. I have corresponded with Stuart (SGB1963) and he has a number of items to raffle off. ALL of them courtesy of Howie at Parker Razors. Howie has been extraordinarily generous for our get together, you won’t believe it.
http://i.imgur.com/NsPBCl.jpg
One item of housekeeping. I really don’t know how many will be attending. In the event that there are more than twelve of us we will all put our names in a hat and draw out twelve names. Those will be the recipients of the Merz bags with goodies inside. As to the raffle itself, if you win an item and it is a duplicate or not your taste or whatever, feel at liberty to trade /swap at will. This is all about having a good time and connecting with like-minded guys. See you soon!

Is anyone bringing stuff to swap? I have a giant bottle of Tabac aftershave, a puck of williams, a few pucks of slightly used col conk soaps, one slightly used puck of VDH, and maybe a few other things. Nothing major, just some stuff I don't use. If I can't swap it, I will most likely donate it to a local nursing home. I wonder if they would even use this kind of stuff?

Am back from the event - WHEWWWW! It felt like a high school reunion all morning long. A great time and everybody went back home with a bunch of free stuff. See? You CAN save money after all with this wet shaving hobby. Ha, ha!
Say, if you wanted to attend but were NOT able to, I have two gift bags looking for a home. Just PM me your address and I’ll put them in the mail to you. They include the stuff in the pics listed above.
I want to acknowlege - well, where do you start? Phil (Luvmysuper) donated a slug of stuff, several vintage DE’s and notably three beautiful straights. Howie of Parker sent a BOX of stuff to Stuart to give away. The raffle went on and on. The table was full of stuff and we kept going until it was finally empty. Stuff was freely swapped back and forth. Most of all it was all about meeting guys you were already acquainted with.
And then when we were done? John of JCinPA stepped forward and said he had an item he had brought to show but decided to raffle it off. He said he had enjoyed the camaraderie so much it just seemed like the thing to do. It was a stunning gold Gillette boxed, essentially mint. Paul, you HAVE to post a pic. Jaws dropped and frothing commenced. It went to Clutch Cargo with applause all ‘round!
I think everyone was most impressed with Phil’s long suffering Better Half who seemed to enjoy the event as much as the guys did. (Kidding about the long suffering bit, she fit right in.)
Stay tuned for the pictures, compliments of Clutch Cargo...

Someone said it was like Christmas all over again, and someone else (Price maybe?) said it was 'Shavemas'. I like that!
I'm not sure Paul got the Aristocrat, Scott, I think maybe it was one of the guys across the table from him?
Nice group of folks, to be sure, ESPECIALLY the military guys! Phil is a 21 year Navy veteran, and Price is still serving. Personally, I think the high percentage of military guys on the B&B is part of what makes it so nice. :wink2:
Price is a mensch, as is Phil. Phil contributed several nice straights, something I've been wanting to try for months now, and guess what came up in my raffle? It needed honing, and Price volunteered to do that for me right away, AND said he had an unused strop he'd give me, as well. Realizing he was in his 'Gentlemanly Restraint' non-accumulation period for the year, I gave him a Trumpers almond soap in wooden bowl as a thank you. Aside from meeting some very nice folks, there are very generous folks around here, too!
Scott, I can't thank you enough for putting this together. Very, very fun!

Like Wid stated so well earlier, I also find it amazing that we all come from such different backgrounds, but have such an immediate bond with our shared interest: Shaving! Now I am really looking forward to The Great Shave 2012 in August. Maybe at our next get together one of our honers can do a live instructional on honing and stroping.
Thank you Cap'n for organizing this event and putting together the great goody bags. If you guys have not tried the osage rub, it is really powerful menthol. I love to use it on really cold days and head outside immediately after splashing it on my face!
Thank you Howie of Taconic and Parker for the tremendous amount of shave goodies. The shave items were raffled off, and everyone went home a very happy winner.
Thank you Paul for taking the photos and posting.

This is just a reminder to stir it up with a butter knife or something similar, as the oils tend to seperate. The generosity of Phil was overwhelming, a great big THANK YOU to Howie of Taconic and Parker and to JCinPA for raffling off the gold Aristocrat. It was the collective generosity of everyone there that made this event special. I was telling some of the guys that being on B&B is one thing, but when you gather together you don't feel alone anymore. As we were introducing ourselves I felt like we were at an AA meeting. What we should have said was "Hi, my name is ______ and I have AD."
I felt like a kid at christmas this evening when I went to shave. I pulled out two of the raffle prizes, the boar brush and lathered up the Taconic Eucalyptus Mint shaving cream. The Taconic was a little challenging to lather up with the boar brush. Then I put it on my face and what a surprise, the boar brush was unbelievably soft and felt really comfortable on my face. Who would have thunk a boar brush was that soft. I think it was WID that refinished that brush, awesome. Then I pulled out my straight, I got a pds, but I'm still leaning and I finished it off with my DE and I didn't slice open my face. A victory in my book. Then I opened up the Captain's Choice Aftershave. As I was going to put it on my face I was expecting the usual AS burn, and to my surprise there was NONE!!! In fact that is the most comfortable AS I think I have ever used. Thanks Captain Pre-Capsize!!!
I was really surprised at how many gents use straights, 7 out of the 11 used straights. Being that there were so many straight razor guys there I took the opportunity to get some pointers. It was really nice meeting you guys and I look forward to our next get together.
Nice! I'm glad you enjoyed the brush.

In response to an earlier post, I was the very lucky winner of the beautiful gold Aristocrat. A special thank you to JCinPA, who, in the spirit of giving, so graciously put that beautiful razor into the raffle.
Stuart
Ah, I knew it was someone on your side of that table, I just forgot who. Since you organized the Merz event last November, I think it is only fitting you won that razor. Thanks for your efforts on that event!
Anyway, I have ruined a nickel plated Slim with vinegar once and just today, I came across this post.

I suggest you do the same. Only dishwashing detergent or scurbbing bubbles for that razor, Stuart! Have fun with it!

It was great putting some faces with the names. A big thanks to the Captain for putting this all together, thanks to Howie from Parker Taconic for all of his great products. I ended up with a Parker DE from Howie. Sir-Nix-Alot, I thought I took one of your un-opened packages of derbys, I'll have to check my bag. I still haven't unloaded it. Good times!

Hi,
Thank you thanks to Howie from Parker Taconic for your donations and merz apothecary for the grab bags. I cannot forget the Captin for all of the samples he put in the bag. Osage rub ... I'm really liking it.

Well, I don't think a date has been set, or if it is even official, but I believe SGB said Merz might be putting on another big event like they did last November around August. If your travel plans are flexible you would certainly want to work it around that event.
And by the way, midwestern yankees in general, and Chicagoans in particular, are a very friendly breed of Yankee. You might be pleasantly surprised! :wink2:
If I can't be in Richmond (one of my favorite places) it's Chicago for me!

I ought to have mentioned at the event and forgot.
The free shave samples given out in your bags and the free dozen shave samples raffled off came from Shaveabuck who is a vendor here. Not all of them came from him but most did. They are shave creams I had never heard of, some from Russia, and I knew you guys had never tried them. As you try the samples and find one you like, now you know where to get it from.
Hope that helps.

That's very helpful Scott.
Appreciate knowing the source so I can do some business with him.

I owe a big thank you to whomever made a point to extoll the virtues of boar brushes. JcinPa? I had a boar that I never used because it was too stiff. Since the meeting I have been using that brush everyday and my EJ best has been collecting dust.

Both JCinPA and I are big fans of boars; Semogue's in particular.

Great, Nix!
I don't subscribe to the great "Boar vs. Badger" competition, I like both. But a good boar, well-broken-in is surprisingly soft and works great with soaps.
I used my King1976 24mm silvertip badger with some TOBS Jermyn Street this morning, but it was Tabac with the Semogue 2000 yesterday. I'm a switch hitter, I guess.
Glad you like it!

I am not even sure who makes the one that I have. I can't find any marks. I think the stiffness works wonders on my neck where my hair lays down on my face. When it is wet, the tips are soft but the bristles have enough backbone to give a good scrub. Seems to do exactly what I want it to do.
Also those Bic blade have impressed the hell out of me. I've been using the same blade since the beginning of the month. It is still shaving with ease. I'm just seeing how far I can take it now.

Sorry for the late notice, but this just occurred to me right now.
Clutch Cargo (Paul, our photographer) and I have had several lunches prior to that last get together, we work about a 1/2 mile from each other. We're having lunch again this Thursday.
I'm not trying to foment another shaving meet 'n greet or anything, but it just occurred to me that several of you are out in this direction and if anyone wants to join us, you are certainly welcome. We're not bringing any shaving gear or anything, just having lunch and basically yucking it up, we enjoy getting together at different restaurants every several weeks for lunch.
If you live out west and want to join us we will be meeting here at 11:30 am on Thursday (16th). Paul, I'm looking forward to it, as always!
We'll be at the Freedom Commons location in Naperville

Naf Naf is awesome! Very simple food, good prices, well executed. Nuttin fancy, but I like it! Come on over if you can make it. We meet early because poor Clutch has to start work at 7 am. Uncivilized, I know, but they're slave drivers over there.
Hey, Cap'n, what was the Topaz after shave you gave out at the Saturday deal a couple weeks ago? I like it a lot. I am digging through the samples we got. Is that something you make, or someone else? It smells a bit like Old Spice, which I like. Is that what he was going for?
Details, Please! It has a hand written label on it. Thanks, buddy.

That topaz is nice. I can't stand it initially; but it smells great after a few minutes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Cap'n, but I think the Topaz is a Master's product.

Ah, believe it or not I found it along with the Palmolive shave cream (didn’t care for that at ALL) at an Indian grocery called Patel’s on Army Trail, east of Route 59 by a half mile on the north side of the road. The OS I liked and it was reasonable. I thought there might have been a remote chance of me making lunch today but work conspired against it. I was going to bring each of you some La Toja shave samples.
JCinPA
02-17-2012, 04:55 AM
Oh! So it was the Indian OS cream? You put those samples together?
For some reason I thought they were homemade samples or something. Now I know why folks like the Indian creams. It was very slick for a cream, I liked it a lot. OS aftershave is in my rotation, I may have to get a tube of this stuff.
And I swear that Topaz smells like OS, but my OS is back in Philly, so I can't do a side/side sniff test. Good stuff, though, and thanks for the info!
John
P.S. Clutch and I get together for lunch every few weeks, there will be another time, I'll keep you posted. So far we have hit a traditional Jewish Deli, a Greek family diner and the Naf Naf. Give us another 2-3 weeks and we'll set up another lunch date, I'm sure. Maybe Joy Yee Noodle next time, yum!

I have been wearing p&g old spice and while Topaz is reminiscent, it is a different smell. Has great staying power like old spice (seems like topaz is better). I like it a lot.

I've enjoyed reading about your get-to-gether. One of the disadvantages of living in Northern Wisconsin, I'm a long way from anyone. I don't recall seeing any pictures of that gold Aristocrat that was raffeled off. Maybe I can make the next Merz event in August if they have one.
I will tell you all a quick yankee story:
When I moved to Wisconsin from Texas about 22 years ago, I told one of my good customers (a Polish logger from Rhinelander, WI) that it was good to be in Wisconsin and to finally become a yankee. You could literally see his face turn red then he said, this is the Upper Midwest, if you want to be an yankee, you need to move to Illinois.

The Merz first event this past November was fantastic! So when Abdul Qaiyum and his sons, the owners of Merz, schedule the next event, it's definitely worth making sure you can be there.

The word is that The Great Shave will be held earlier in the year this time, perhaps this coming August.
Stay tuned for a second installment of The CLOSE Shave which will precede it - perhaps this coming June. I put together the inaugural one and if I recall, Stuart was going to head up the next one but we have lots of time.
Talk was the next one will be more convenient to the north side of Chicago (if you are from the “Sout” side that would have been pronounced “Nort”) to make it more convenient to the north suburbs and the several guys from Wisconsin who want to attend as well.
One thing is for sure: You are going to be taking home more shave stuff than you brought!

I'm on the far north side of Buffalo Grove, but am willing to meet up with local shavers anytime. I will be at Dobby's in Palatine this Saturday at 1:00 for a beer tasting and afterwards, authentic city style Mexican that is withing walking distance (always a good thing after 20-30 samples).
If anyone wants to meet up, let me know.
