I took my swing but came up short.

Congrats to the winner. It certainly appears to be unused, although I'm not sure the case is correct.

It appears that a bid sniper got it. Saw the price jump over 100 dollars in the last 15 seconds of the auction.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about that case myself. It could just be the angles, but does that outer carton even look wide enough to fit the Big-Fellow-style wooden case?

I think the case and box are fine. We know that Gillette had a habit of using up existing stock on stuff like the cases.

I am confused by the warning label on the razor. The way the BBoy comes apart that warning label would have to be press fit between the handle and blade tray by the look of it. Not sure if Gillette was even using those type of labels that far back. I have only seen those on some TTOs and Techs. Doesn't seem like thats how it should be, but I admit I am not real up on how NOS versions of the older razors were packaged.

The hybrid does not come apart like the standard Big Boy. See here.

The case seems big because The New Big Boy/Big Fellow hybri has a shorter handle which screws directly to the cap like the standard New razors. It used the same case as the New De Luxe . There was no serial number and was probably made around 1929.

I´m the lucky winner. I´m confused about the case too. Krumholz shows on page 230 - 233 the Hybrid Big Boy in a Big Fellow metall case and says, that´s are Big Fellow leftover cases. The wooden box looks unused too, so maybe it gives both matches. It´s the first time that I see this match.

Achim, here is a Big Boy non hybrid in a wooden case, fits just right.

Congratulations, Achim. I don't see any reason why they might not have also used old wooden Big Fellow cases like this. I'm still suspicious about the carton fitting over the wooden case, though. It's probably just my eyes playing tricks on me from the way the two are positioned in the photos, but the carton just doesn't look deep enough to hold it. I'll be interested to know, once you get it, whether it fits properly or not.

It all looks to be in beautiful shape, regardless. Very nice.

I´m the lucky winner.

Well, I certainly don't mind losing to a collector who possesses one of the most complete ensembles of Gillette razors on Earth.

Kudos, my friend!

The beauty arrives very well: he is NOS, but unfortunately the blade case is empty. The carton is fitting over the wooden case. A very nice addition to my collection.
