Ever have a razor you could not keep an edge on? I try putting an edge on a razor the wife gave me and it gets right on the edge of a good edge and then boom its gone. I either try finish it off and I mess it up. Or I roll the edge while stropping. I send it off to be sharpened and works great what a lovely shaving razor and then I roll the edge. This is driving me nuts cause I like the scales of the razor balance is good. Just no matter what happens I can't keep it shaving. Should I try changing the blade cause I really like the look of the scales?

Has anyone else had a razor like this?

What is the difference in between this razor and the others that would have you rolling the edge on just this one?

It is a 6/8 inch blade of which I have three of though it is the only square point. The other three are a 6/8 Barbers notch, 6/8 Round tip and a 4/8 wedge. And this is the only one that I have issues with.

What a nice looking set of scales. You know through I have a few razors that just feel like if I was going to roll an edge it is always the same ones. Each one has some same characteristics; lighter or thinner grind, pinning is too snug or too loose but I understand what you mean. It just has that feeling in your hands. Just a little slower but it looks like a neat shaver.

It's hard telling as to why, they should all strop pretty much the same. I can hone it for ya if ya need it.

It says "magnetized" on the shank...maybe it gets attracted to the hardware on your strop and it messes up your stroke.

Those scales are sweet. Swap blades out. Hell why not. Blade gives ya fits.

There is that but with what blade? One on hand that needs new shoes anyway, a Gold Dollar or a barbers notch that I do not yet own? Hmmmmm quite a conundrum

Could the metal be a bit softer than most other razors so it's really easy to roll the blade?

I have started to look for a barber's notch for the scales. Once I get a replacement blade all will be well. ;)
