I recently read a review were a guy was talking about opening a "vintage" puck of Yardley's shave soap and it reminded me of how much I love the smells of their modern bath and hand soaps. Unfortunately, Yardley's doesn't make shave soap any more. The obvious solution seemed to me to be just mill a bar of lavender soap into a container of my choice and get on with life. Is there some obvious reason I'm missing why this wouldn't work? Do "regular" soaps have something or lack something that makes them comparable to shave soaps? Just for GAGS (grins and giggles) I compared the ingredients on the (in)famous Williams shave soap (I happen to like it, and it's all that you can get out here in BF, Texas) with the ingredients on a bar of Lifeguard. They were pretty similar. Also, will lathering with bath soap harm my badger?

Welcome to the B&B!
Well compared to Williams you might get similar results, But quality shave soap has slicking agents such as clays, butters and oils for a close and comfortable shave.

Williams is lacking in all these areas, you owe it to yourself to try a high quality soap. Check out the reviews for ideas.

Welcome to B&B. From your description, it sounds like you might be near Leakey.
