Pipe smoking and straight razors a winning combination?

You guys will probably think I am crazy (if you don't already) but I had my first zen moment with my Feather AC SS tonight :straight:, I got my first nick free shave from it since I owned it (5-6 shaves) and I truly believe that the fact that I had just finished a smoke :sailor: in my new tobacco pipe was a major factor in the result. I just started pipe smoking this week (my next AD in the making) and it is so relaxing that I was able to truly focus on my shave like never before. I know what you are thinking...:out: say what will but I am thrilled will the results.

Shaving in a straight jacket is generally quite difficult sir. :wink2:

Today, I bought a straight razor, still don't know if I have the courage :scared: to use it this evening for my daily shave...

I don't smoke any more but sure, you want to be relaxed when you use your razor. Especially a feather.

Yeah, it is probably best that you do your straight shaves at night especially since you are new at it, that way the blood with dry by morning :blink: :laugh: by the way what type of straight did you buy?

I DID MY FIRST STRAIGHT TODAY :)

I didn't get any cuts nor the razor burn lik those I get from DE !

I'm going to try it again tomorrow.

I enjoy a pipe and I enjoy a straight shave, but I always get the feeling I should really have a beard to complement a pipe. If you are going to smoke a pipe and shave straights are the way to go.

I bought my first briar a couple of years ago. I also, write with fountain pens and shave with a straight.
I would love to see someone else make some shaving/smoking pics- maybe a slow burning pipe trickling smoke out next to a straight and scuttle or something. Been thinking of doing a photo shoot. Nice to see someone else that dabbles in multiple eccentricities!

Funny. I went through my pipe stage about a year ago and now it's razors. Funny. Right now I'm a DE guy but I'm lurking here for info for my first, maybe, straight. I shaved a few times with a straight when I was a kid, 15 iirc, and had decent luck with it. We'll see.
