Well had my first official DE shave today. My swag arrived today and I couldn't wait till tomorrow morning to use it. I whipped up a bowl of Col. Conks Lime Lather with my Vulfix 2234s brush. It seemed like a waste to not use this fine lather so I put a Merkur Blade in my 38C and went to work. Did two WTG passes, one XTG pass on my face and one Chevron on my neck. I minor nick on my chin and a couple of weepers on my neck but thats about it. I got a reasonable close shave with no more and probably a little less irritation on my neck then what I get from my Fusion. Finished up with a nice rinse , then some Col. Conks Lime AS, the aroma is just wonderful.
I'm sure it would have gone even better had I waited till morning and shaved after my shower, but hey what can I say I was like a kid at Christmas. I just had to play with my new toys.
Thanks to everyone for all their tips, its really paid off, the transition to DE really wasn't a big deal at all. A big thanks to Lee at Lee's Safety Razor it was a pleasure dealing with him the order was accurate and shipped nice and quick
Now I just have to wait for my Westcoast Blade Sampler, Moss Scuttle and Bowl and my vintage Gillettes.

Well now up to shave three and it was wonderful. After a nice hot shower put on some Praraso Pre shave and a hine hot towel out ot the microwave (2 minutes and it was still steamy hot after I got out of the shower). Did a nice lather and went to work, 2 wtg pass, 2 xtg passes (one each direction) and two cheveron passes on neck. Then hot rinse, cold rinse, some Col. Conks Lime AS (I love that stuff) and then some ASB. I very little weeper and no irratation at all even on my neck.
Then I moved to the big canvas the head wiped up a nice lather with my HeadSlick, comes out nice with the brush. A few passes with the Fusion (not brave enough to venture with the DE on the head yet). Rinse, finished with some head lube and as smooth as a bowling ball. I wish my face was as easy to shave as my head.
On another note the wife says to me yesterday after talking about shaving that she glad I found a cheap hobby for a change:lol::lol: little does she know:w00t:
Richard,
Looks like you had some alcohol based products shipped to Canada from the US. What shipping method did the vendor use?

Richard,

Paul
USPS Global Priority so when it gets here to Canada its handled by Canada Post's other arm Purolator (usually but sometime comes in the regular Canada Post truck which this one did I think) which has no problem with products containing alcohol. Plus it was part of a larger shipment and the ingredients aren't anywhere on the bottle. So just keep your mouth shut when you order and there are no problems. I hate to tell you Canada Post doesn't go out of it'w way to find individual bottles of alcohol AS. most of the problems are with large shipments and with those people who feel the need to volunteer more information than is required.
Part of my old job in the lab was shipping samples around the country and to the US most contained alcohol, no one asked so...... and that was very pure ethanol.
The only online place that I've seen refusing to ship alcohol based product was classic shaving and that has to do with FAA regs. not Canada Post.
So go ahead order a bottle with your next order, but I would order other stuff with it a couple of soaps, blades and such. I wouldn't order 10 bottles though then your asking for trouble.
