Well SWMBO has forbidden me to buy anything else due to the upcoming Christmas Holidays.

As a result I am making a heavily laden list of shaving goodies.

I have been wanting to try a DR Harris Soap, and would appreciated your recommendations.

I also want to add a good Lavender soap to my rotation. In you opinions which would you consider the best?

Thanks Everyone!

Jon

I hear Dr. Harris is awesome, If you are looking for lots of scent choices, and excellent customer service, look into vendors @ Garry sample shop, also Honeybee or Mamabear, I haven't seen lavender but I bet they got it, something close.

I have not tried them, but research has pointed to them for good soap, and its in the mail for me to try :)

Someone more experienced will be here shortly! :)

My wife and I have a nice arrangement. If I order anything in the 2 months before Christmas I give the unopened box to my wife. I may know what it is, but I have to wait to unwrap it at Christmas. My wife is very happy with this arrangement. She and my older daughters (who think my wife buys it) are glad not to have to shop for me. And I always like what I get. I don't have a lavender soap, so I'm looking forward to the responses.

Edit: Anyone try the Vintage Blades brand lavender soap? I like the cream but never tried the soap.

I've read great recommendations about RazoRocks Artisan Shave Soap Chianti Lavender and it is on sale for $8.99 at the Italian Barber.

+1. Never used this scent (used 4 others), but the line of soaps performs amazingly well, and this scent has its very loyal followers.

Another lavender soap that gets high praise is Art of Shaving. Never used it personally, but again, it's very popular here.

Pre de Provence is a great soap that I have used for a few years. It lathers well, has a nice not to strong scent, and the tin screws down which allow it to be perfect for travel.

http://www.hydrolast.com/Purchase_Hydrolast.html .. The lavender 350Gram block is great. Don't let them cut it. I use it as a primer and then add a bit of my current favorite cream. Whip it up directly in the left hand palm and you will end up with some luxurious lather. Charles Roberts taught me to wet shave more than a dozen years ago this way. He has changed his method, I haven't changed mine and probably won't.

If you're game for a cream...my favorite product I've used for shaving happens to be lavender. It's the Vulfix lavendar cream. It smells so good and the razor glides over it better than anything else I've used.

Treat yourself to something very nice: DR Harris soaps!! The Lavender is great, just used it this morning. Harris' soaps are one of the top ranking soaps there is. They are still containing tallow.

Marlborough is a must-have soap for me.

I have all except the almond, and they all perform flawlessly. If I had to make a decision to choose one soap company to save my life, it would be Harris.

Buy yourself a puck of Art of Shaving sandalwood and new convertible. Pick your wife up from Macy's in said convertible. When she gasps in horror, hold up the soap and tell her, "Hey honey, like my new shaving soap?"

You can't go wrong with D. R. Harris Arlington or Marlborough. Two of my favorite soaps........ along with MWF, Tabac, Pre de Provence, L'Occitane Cade, etc....

Another vote for Honeybee!!! They are nice and cheap, and some of the top performers (most moisturizing imho). Also, Cella if you don't have any.
