Slim settings = SS, Red Tip ?

I've been using a 40s Superspeed and a Red Tip lately with excellent results. I have recently acquired a Slim. It seems I've been thus far unable to find that "happy place" with the Slim.

I've read the blade gap Wiki but just wondered, what Slim setting performs most like those fixed gap/angle razors? Or, is it apples and oranges?

In my experience a 5 setting on a Slim is similar to the Red Tip; 40's SS would be a 2.

Thanks Noah, that explains why 7 was a little on the harsh side. I'll hang around 4-5 for a while and see what I learn. I just bought 100 Voskhods (too good a price, had to try 'em) and have found that they perform quite smoothly in everything I've put them in.

Yep 4 or 5 is about the Red Tip range. You would definitely feel a difference at 7.

i thought the fat boy also around 5 - 6 was close to red-tip range. slim maybe the same or slightly less
