Gentlemen!

Movember is upon us. A month where we decide that 100% BBS is terrible. A month where we decide that we are too manly for a bald upper lip. A month where we decide to grow a Mo to raise awareness and money to fight prostate cancer and male depression.

:euro:

This is my 3rd Movember, each year I get into it in a big way - and now your friend and mine, Scott - aka Burt Reynolds, aka hdstreetglide is leading the B&B charge towards putting a Mo on all of our faces.

:euro:

Last year $80.7 million was raised - I have no doubt that B&B can make a difference to this total. Join us yourself, get your friends and family in on it. Email out a memo and bully the quiet guy who sits accross from you at work to grow a mo and have some fun.

:euro:

So please sign up and join the B&B team! (https://www.movember.com/us/register/details/team_id/205094) Ever wanted a Mo but didnt want to stuggle through that first horrible week when it looks terrible, and people ask if you have lost your job? Now you have the perfect excuse to try out your new face! Or even just donate to your B&B mo' growin' brothers in arms (https://www.movember.com/us/donate/your-details/team_id/205094).Even if you only raise $5 from an understading wife, and a confused co-worker, rocking the 'tash for a month raises the profile of these scourges of masculinity, and every dollar helps.

:euro:

Big steps have been taken towards changing attitudes and habits relating to men’s health around the world, but there is still much to be done to catch up with the women’s health movement. Via the moustache, Movember aims to fulfill its vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health by continuing to spark conversation and spread awareness of men’s health issues each year

:euro:

Details to follow, but I will be giving out prizes for the most money raised by a DE user, the most money raised by a straight user, and a 100% brand spanking new custom title for the team member with the best Mo at the end of the month.

Let's do it--I'll shave off the goat for only the second time in 10 years so I can start Movember off right! (The first time was my wedding, four years ago.)

Just joined the B&B team.

I guess this will help me up my game, too. I've been feeling all high and mighty because I can get BBS with no nicks or anything and I'm a noob...but I haven't had to tackle my chin yet. Wish me luck!

I won't be joining the clean lip crowd on Nov 1st, it takes far too long for my moustache to grow in people won't start to notice it until December. I'll be walking around with a run-up.

I'll be donating and sporting a 'stache to hopefully inspire others to grow out or shave one in too.

What to do.....just got into a relationship with a woman waaaaaay out of my league (meaning she's in a much higher league,) not sure how she'd take it.

I say I'm gonna grow one. If I MO up and she comes back, she's mine. But if I MO up and she bolts, then it was never meant to be.

Awesome! That's a great attitude. If she's a keeper she'll understand that you're doing it for a good cause. My girlfriend would never let me grow a mo outside of Movember.

As a PC survivor, I can't say no to this challenge. Growing and in my case, improving my moustache is a cakewalk compared to the challenges of facing any form of cancer. From one who has been there, a heart-felt thank you to all of you who join this challange.

This is what your donations to Movember will help fund.

MENíS HEALTH PARTNERS AND PROGRAMS WE FUND

PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION
The Prostate Cancer Foundation uses the money raised by Movember to fund research that is accelerating the discovery of better treatments and ultimately a cure for prostate cancer.

LIVESTRONG
LIVESTRONG uses the money raised by Movember to fund programs that address the unmet needs of male cancer survivors. This will be a comprehensive, national program with local components that will help men navigate the best treatment option, support them through treatment and help their quality of life post treatment.

MOVEMBER FOUNDATION
The Movember Foundation uses the money raised to fund two programs: an awareness and education program that significantly increases the understanding and reduces the stigmas of the health risks that men face, and Movemberís Global Action Plan that accelerates key outcomes in prostate cancer research by facilitating global research collaboration projects.

Here are a few ideas taken from the Movember home page. The sky is the limit, be creative and lets see if each team member can raise at least $200.00.

Set yourself a fundraising goal, for example $200, and create a list of who you will ask for a donation. The best way to kick off your fundraising campaign is by making a donation to yourself.

Facebook post or Tweet

Head to our Facebook Page and use the Adopt a Mo application and ask your friends to adopt you for a month [coming soon].

Youíll probably need to send a few emails and posts with progress pictures to prove you are doing Movember, so aim to start fundraising the first week of Movember.

Ask your company if they dollar match Ė itís an easy way to double your efforts.

Ask a business that you support to support you - your local coffee shop, restaurant or bar, doctor, hairstylist, dry cleaner, etc.

Send a personal thank you to everyone who donates to you.

Get the ladies involved! Mo Sistas are great with fundraising ideas.

My principal gave me the green light to start an official faculty team. I'll stay on the B&B team for morale support, but I can't seem to figure out how to join two teams at once, so I'm going to do the lion's share of work as team captain for my school using a different Movember account.

Here are a couple of pics I'll email out this weekend to get some of the scaredy-cats off the fence, or at least get people talking on Monday when I make my Big Push to drive up membership:

197423197424

HD, feel free to use on the B&B team site if you'd like.

This reminds me...I have a lovely little shave-ready straight that I bought from Jenessy for when I finally felt gutsy enough to try a straight-shave. I think this might be the time, so I can get some dramatic pics to get more faculty on board. Any advice on prep before taking off well-established whiskers such as these as opposed to your daily stubble--or should I just fake some action shots and do the real work with my dog clippers? :001_tt2:

No, I can't. The BadgerandBlade.com team is registered on the American site, with funds going to American Charities. I'm registered on the Canadian Movember site, with the funds going to Canadian Charities. It appears that teams can not be in more than one nation because I can't find a Badgerandblade.com team to register for on the Canadian site. I'm doing this regardless, I just didn't know if it would be an idea to have a Canadian Team as well.

Awesome pics!:lol::lol: Aussies rock. Seriously, I've never met an Australian I didn't like, mainly because I've never met an Australian who took themselves too seriously (and who wasn't shy about pointing it out when I was taking myself too seriously).

I've upped the ante here at school. I've told my students that anyone who donates any amount will get to vote on which 'stache I try to grow. My colleagues are slowly but surely coming around. I think I'll get a lot of donations, but I think I'll only have three or four other guys on my school team.

UGH!!! FINE!!! :wink2:

I'm in.. I said many posts ago that I would not my shave my dear goatee..

A Short History

I grew this goatee when I was 17 years old.. My grandmother hated facial hair so much, when she passed away I found that my face with a tidy goatee had been cut out of several of them... But I love(d) that Goat...

However, all things have a season and this is Movember! I have joined the Canuck Movember Group (so far two of us?? :w00t:) .. Here is the damage... (and cause this is a shaving forum (Merkur Slant, with Feather Black Blade, Razorsock LE soap and a B&B 2008 LE brush..) May as well go big...

For posterity.. Before..
197957

And After..

Let the Moustaches begin!!!

I've had a goatee for about 10 years now ... I originally grew it to camouflage my bad teeth, but I get so many compliments on it that I'd be reluctant to give it up. I've had various beards and moustaches down through the years, and none of them looked right, but when I grew a goatee, it really seemed to work for my face.

So ... back to the bad teeth ... I've finally found a dental clinic that will do all the work I need at a price I can afford ... and everything is almost done. Just one last step, and that's to get fitted for partial dentures. I went there today (10/31) hoping that they would be ready and I'd have something to wear when I left the clinic today. No such luck. They need a couple more appointments to complete the molds and fitting process, so it looks like I'll be keeping my goatee for another month or two.

Once I get the dentures, I may go clean-shaven, just to check it out. I doubt it will stay that way for long ... I've grown to like what I look like with a goatee, and so do my girlfriend(s).

Gentlemen of the mo brotherhood... It is that fateful day, they day where out tash's, beards and goatees, masculine facial hair hard fought and won must be sacrificed on the altar of charity. Sacrificed for each other, that we may, though out small part stamp out and spit upon the dastardly evils of prostate cancer and male depression.

Do not be sad to walk around tomorrow with a bald upper lip, do not bend to the taunts and torments of your peers for we stand with you. We stand with you as you forge a new mo from the fire of our solidarity. We stand shoulder to shoulder to shout at the world "we are men, we will grow our mo's anew, we will not flinch for the scratchy period, we will not falter when it grows ginger and patchy as the mo we all have inside pushes out into the sunlight. We will wear our mo as a badge of pride, and a remembrance to those who have fallen!"

My brothers, my friends...get ready to grow your mo's!!!!!

Officially clean shaven and silky smooth! Let the lip cultivation begin!

Man, haven't had my face completely clean in over 5 years. Such a weird feeling! Also makes it the first DE shave of my chin! Was quite apprehensive, especially with a couple scars I've got there, but it went great! Some tiny rough patches, but nothing noticeable. All that practice pays off! :w00t:

I received news today that my friend and neighbor was diagnosed with prostate cancer- bringing home the message loud and clear of Movember.

I'm sorry to hear it, Jim. I hope they caught it early! I have two uncles who survived prostate cancer, so I know the odds are better than most other forms, but still a hell of a thing to face. I had a scare myself last year, and about three weeks of mostly sleepless nights, when I found a hard lump on one of my testicles. Thankfully, it proved just to be a cyst that needed no treatment. If it seems like I've gone kind of gung-ho on Movember, I have. It's personal.

Of course, part of me will be with my fellow B&B tribe, but we must try to continue drawing in more people, involving more individuals so that all men get the information and support needed involving mens health awareness. Guys, I don't want to bitch and moan or nag, but we got some work to do! As a team, we're not doing to bad with $3800+ in donations so far, but I noticed that we have 49 folks on the team, but less than half of those folks have any donations! Now I don't know the reasons and and don't want to badger folks (no pun intended), but each of the folks showing $0 for donations can at least make a $5 donation - that's cheaper than most creams and aftershaves - it's a bit less than a pack of Feather blades. There's less than a week left, so let's open up those pocket books - for the team and for men's health.

As a biker, I know I've done plenty of "Save the TaTa's" and "Bikers for Boobs" rides, but I've never heard of a "Bikers for Balls" ride. This is the only organization I've know for men's health and it's fundraising is miniscule compared to women's health fundraising. Hey Guys,

Not a frequent poster, but a new DE shaver here. It's my first time participating in Movember and I've been having a ball with it! Glad to see there is a B&B team, just joined on the site! Happy Movember to all!

Were you guys able to join team B&B that I started? I know some guys had trouble joining a US team?

I already have a team from work so I couldn't. I don't think people not from the US can join a US team. I know someone started a Canadian team for us but I think the network is better anyway, it gives us an idea of how much we are raising all over the world.

This is the link to the Canadian Team http://ca.movember.com/mospace/1716602/ I left them a message on it to join the Network.

So, let's be a touch selfish and do a little something for ourselves.

I couldn't figure out how much to donate to the team so I donated a dollar to all participating.

I also wanted to give a personal thank you to everyone on board and Jim Goose keep up the good work!

Noticed it in my e-mail this morning. Thanks for helping the cause!

I've also noticed there are some great PIFs out there in some of the forums. A minimal donation get you entered in a great PIF, so go for it guys!

The team I started at work has raised $475, and I think it's fair to consider that part of B&B's haul because I wouldn't have started the team if I hadn't read about it here. What do the gentlemen of the board think?

I went to the owner of my favorite local haunt, the Cloverleaf Tavern, and asked him for a donation. He actually refused, saying that far too many people come to him looking for money. Then, he asked me if I had considered having a fundraiser. He offered me a large private party room for an off night, and promised 20% of all gross receipts from the room would be donated to my Movember page. Well, I gave it a shot, though I had never done anything quite like this before. The event was tonight, Tuesday the 29th. I had about 40 people show up, took in $195.00 in donations tonight alone, and I will get a call from the restaurant owner tomorrow with the tally of his donation. I am very happy with the outcome, and it was a great evening!! I'm sorry I didn't post it in this thread earlier, so that some of my Jersey brethren might have learned of it here!!

Update: SWMBO informed me that I look like Captain Kangaroo this morning...

This reminded me of and old SNL skit from the mid 1980's ('84 I think) called "Jackie Rogers jr. $100,000 Jackpot Wad".
It starred Martin Short and featured Jim Belushi as Captain Kangaroo.
Watch the video here (http://www.myspace.com/video/contributor/100-000-jackpot-wad/25906286)
There are lots of great lines in it, but I just love how Captain Kangaroo is on the edge.

Anyway, this comment and the fact that you look like Captiain Kangaroo got you a donation.

Well done everyone. T'was a good great Movember!

Great job everyone. I decided to do it solo for my first year, raised $280 so far, trying to make the push over $300.

If any San Diego Mos are headed to the Gala on Thursday, let me know, would like to meet some folks in person.

Can't wait until Friday, this thing's got a life of its own.

I managed to score $500 for my team, who got to $2700 over the month. I also think that should count to B&B's total, as if I could've been part of both teams, I would have! Here's the before and after :w00t:

The B&B team raised $7,650.00. I know a lot of you were already on a team. We also had the Canadian team. I bet B&B as a whole probably raised close to $10,000.00.

You should all be commended, great job every one.
