I just got a very clean Black Handled Schick Injector on eBay. I figure now that I am into DE, I owe it to myself to sample the Schick.

I also got a Rooney Style 2 finest from Jim at Vintage Blades but I am returning it as it just feels too small in my hand. I am exchanging it for a Style 3 medium in Super. Jim has been great to deal with and I highly recommend him.

I am still waiting to receive both a Merkur Progress and a B&B 2006 brush in horn I purchased on the B&B marketplace last week.

I'm lucky to get home first last night, as I had a pile of packages on doorstep...

Henckels 7/8 Friodur round tip
Geo. Wostenholm 7/8 that needs a bit of TLC
TGQ soaps - orders from two different weeks (I think the post office had trouble with a change of address form I sent in)

I could not find the camera, and was reluctant to ask Mrs. T as it would arouse her suspicions... I'll seek again this evening.

RAZOR PORN ALERT!
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!

Hey guys I've got a few photos of some lucky snags I've had over the last couple of weeks or so and thought I would share. I rushed the setup so you can blame the photographer and not the camera for the quality of the pictures but hopefully they will serve the purpose.

First up is a nice 40s-early 50s American Aristocrat (cased and papered) I got off Ebay from a woman who was selling some of her uncle's personal possessions. The gentleman was 80 years old and I gathered was going into a nursing home although she didn't explicitly say. It's not NOS but it is absolutely Mint-case and all. She reckoned that he may never have used it. I will post more detailed pictures in the future but it is truly a thing of beauty to a razor aficionado. Undoubtedly the finest Aristocrat I've ever seen. This one will do no more shaving if it ever has.

Shot of the case

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b227/mjl1297/Aristo_2.jpg
Case opened for display

Next up is a mint TV Super Speed (papered) that I picked up in a lot. No heat stress cracks in that case. Like the razor it is mint. I don't think this razor was ever used.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b227/mjl1297/TVSS.jpg
1958 Mint TV SS

Rare gold aluminium "HD DR" (cased and with the original French blade pack). HD DR is in quotes because this thing is so light it nearly floats out of your hand.

Gold aluminium HD DR

Unexpected thrill acquisition of the month-F2 NOS Super Speed cased and papered. Ok I grant you the SS may not be a huge blip on the RAD radar but they are a fine looking razor. I bought this really for the case alone which I could tell was mint. The seller gave no details about the SS itself. Imagine my shock and pleasant surprise when I got the thing and realised it was an NOS SS. The instructions and blade pack are still in the cello.

NOS F2 Super Speed

Second shot showing the instruction sheet.

Last but not least here is one I sort of stumbled across. I know I said I rushed the setup but there is nothing amiss with the white balance in this photo-that's a genuine gold plated Gillette Super Speed H2 date code. More detailed photos to follow once I clean it up.

I decided to try my hand at making a strop and while I was out getting leather and stuff for the strop I picked up a King 6000 wet stone. Now to start practicing my honing and stropping skills on one of my old razors. I also purchased Lynn Abrams "World of Straight Razor Shaving" DVD and Bill Ellis's "Straight Razor Restoration" CD, can't wait until they get here.

I agree, it is like a tank. Let me know if you notice anything unusual about the razor once you get a blade inserted. On mine one side of the blade seems more 'open' or aggressive than the other. I will try to take a picture and post on the Safety Razor portion of the forum so that you will see what I mean.

Nice! What's in the small containers?

I sweet talked my way into some free samples of Hydrolast aftershave conditioner, one is Peppermint and the other is Sandalwood. After washing my face this evening, I tried some of the Peppermint. It is very nice stuff. I will likely end up buying a full sized tub of this, though I think I'll try to get it mixed with a touch more peppermint as I'm a junkie for the tingle.

Austin

Hydrolast is a great product. I use it during the fall and winter months. That small tub will last you forever.
