I have been lurking and even posted a couple of times. I guess I owe my checkin post, so here it goes:

I started getting into wetshaving a few months ago. My routine before that was I would use a Braun electric shaver from Tuesdays to Fridays and I would shave with a Gillette Mach3 on Mondays. Back in July I was in Miami for some meetings, one of these meetings took place in the Admirals Club in Miami Int. Airport. As we were leaving the meeting, the had AOS samples in a basket on the reception desk. I took one and gave it a try the monday after that. I liked the concept of the preshave oil especially. Back in Uruguay I starte lookin for a way to buy AOS products and ship them here. In that search I stubled upon B&B. Long stroy short, today I have three DE safety razors, a number of soaps, am making my own preshave oil, etc.

I have an offer for the community: I can buy and ship Dr. Selby cream (soap) to any member in exchange for items that are hard (or impossible) to find here. Right now I'm looking for a leather pouch for my razor (merkur 38C) and a badger travel brush. Any takers?

Best regards,
Matias

Welcome to B&B, Matias :thumbup1:

One thing you should be aware of is the site's policy on selling/trading; you must be a registered member for 45 days first. However, you can buy anything on the B/S/T (buy/sell/trade) section right away. Many, if not most, members are willing to ship internationally.

Saludos!

Ooops! In that case, disregard the offer for now. I'll post it again in December.

Hola Matias http://userimages01-akm.imvu.com/productdata/images_850e1fb3a8d6d3fb9f031ec07fc4e8dc.gif(Yeah Baby!!!). http://th60.photobucket.com/albums/h21/mykukla/smileys/th_fistbump.gif

Welcome aboard the B & B (besides being enrolled in the fictional, sacred and utopian Order of Shavedom). Please feel free to come up to the promenade / sun deck & 'sit-a-spell'.

Sounds like your off to a great start (and good ridance for your electric shaver), and yes,...this Forum has the knowledge, ideas, and alround 'know-how' to assist in your Wet-Shaving experience. In a nut-shell...your 'gonna' love it here.

My humble advice is to purchase a Razor Blade Sampler to see what blade would be a good fit (mild, moderate & aggressive, ect...), for your face and Razor. By the way, I happen to like Shark Super Chrome with my DE Merkur's 23C & 38C razors.

"Merkur; Solingen quality, Time-tested Tradition with Modern Design". http://www.italianbarber.com/images/merkur%20logo.jpg

If you do get a Sampler, my advice is to try 2,3,4 or 5 blades (however which amount per blade brand), before moving on to the next blade.

Also, long ago when I received my Sampler, I started a Thread entitled "In what Order should I test these Sampler Razor Blades?", and the best advice was from member Optometrist a.k.a David who stated;

"I say jump straight in with the feathers. Yes, they are sharp, but you learn very quickly to let the weight of the razor do the work for you. If you can get the feather right, then it's plain sailing with the others. A few nicks and cuts early on are nothing to worry about and stand you in good stead. Start with a lesser blade and it's a continual learning process as you step up the level of sharpness". :yesnod:

Also, member Npsarros stated, "Keep a spreadsheet with every shave [you], have taken, rating each blade as [you], go along". My spread data ratings reads in columns as follows;

Razor Blade / Country / Type - Sharpness? (aggressive, moderate sharpness, mild sharpness, tugging or pulling, ect...), - Closeness of Shave? (DFS, CCS, BBS, ect...) - Smoothness/Roughness of Shave? (moderately smooth, very smooth, very,very smooth, ect...) - Comfort of Shave? (no irratation, slight irratation, touch of burn, itching, ect...) - Overall Rating? (awesome, great, passable or unpleasant), and Compatible with your Razor(s)? (yes or no).

PM me with your e-mail address and I will send you my workable spread sheet example.

The Thread "Wet Shaving Instructions and Tutorials" (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/71700-WET-SHAVING-INSTRUCTIONS-AND-TUTORIALS-New-READ-THIS-THREAD!), maybe of great interest to you and is very informative.

Although, you may not be additted yet (I think I'm holding up fairly well...with a few exceptions), because we all suffer (gladly and are doomed perhaps), from this shaving complusion (and other Acquisition Disorders), because at times..."Resistance is futile". http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-alien003.gif

Please don't forget once you get time....please tell us a little about your shaving kit and a little about yourself in the Hall of Fame sub-forum.
