During the first week of November we would like to see black & white pics, which are certainly some of the most classic possible. These, in fact, reproduce that cool, traditional effect given by the very first photos of the history. :001_cool: And it's really up to you if you want to include a vintage look or a modern look in your two tones shaving shots! :wink2:

With the exception of the 444 balm, none of this stuff is made nowadays.
Colgate Cup soap (probably from the 50's)
Semogue 1550 (late 90's)
Joseph Rodgers straight razor (ca. 1820-1830)
444 balm
Old Spice Musk by Shulton (late 80s)

And so much the pity! But an excellent pic to display what once was, Leon.:thumbup1:

Believe or not, I shipped one of my Dovo Best Qualities back for repair so I could join in the pic taking. Too bad Fedex lost my shipment, so now I'm forced to grow the beard until my claim gets resolved.

Spooktacular Shave
PS: Sorry guys...no time to convert pictures this week to B&W, but here's my SOTD nonetheless
Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 26mm Custom Rudy Vey w/ TGN Grade A Silvertip Badger (w/ Buckeye Burl handle)
Devil's Razor: 7/8" Toyo Scheön Burg #666 "Frameback, Wedge, Spike Point
Honing (Refresh) regimen: 5 (light) laps on CrOx treated Premium IV Bridle leather
Strop: 0/55/25 laps (Neil Miller Linen / Imperial Shave "Pegasus III" Horse hide leather / Cordovan leather)
Soapreme: CarrieM "Orange Spice" Shave Creme + Arko Stick Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS
After Shave Balm: Al's "Spicy Orange" ASB
Cologne: Creed "Tabarome" EdT
Results: What better way to celebrate Halloween than with Devil's own razor:001_wub:, i.e., the SB 666? Combined with a little mix of CarrieM/Arko, she delivered an ultra smooth and irritation free shavehttp://straightrazorplace.com/images/smilies/yowza.gif. Whiskers have another nickname for Devil's blade; The Graeme Reaper http://straightrazorplace.com/images/smilies/tongue.png. May God have mercy on their souls. I must say though, as much as I really love the performance of the Arko soap, it stinks to high heavens. Not even the creme was able to mitigate the strong stench. But, the end result was well worth it. Now, I gotta spend some time coming up with ways of scaring the living daylights out of the neighborhood kids http://straightrazorplace.com/images/smilies/roflmao.gif.

Just beautiful, David! Still issues with Cade's lather, my friend?
Thank you, Marco.:001_smile You'll probably have seen but for the past couple of uses, I have combined the Cade soap with the Cade cream, and had fantastic lather(thanks, Bill). Today, I thought I'd give the soap another go on its own and what a disaster!! Had to reload my brush for each pass, and still nothing to write home about. As an uberlather, it's hard to beat, but that's where this soap ends for me. Pity, because the cream detracts from this soap's wonderful smell.

Your B&W are quite nice Marco, great shot and gear!
Thank you, Zee! And yes, the shaving items in the pic are just fabulous. The Chubby 1 Super is a legendary brush, particularly effective for face lathering soaps. In my opinion, one of the finest brushes in the World. The RazoRock XXX is simply amazing: fantastic scent, fantastic lather, fantastic performance. The Dovo 5/8" Silver Steel is my "come back" straight razor and gives very, very close shaves. The Thayers Witch Hazel also is a terrific product and a great lotion to use as an aftershave.

Yes, I'm playing the little chemist here - hopefully I don't blow up anything http://www.myemoticons.com/images/work-school/other-professions/chemist.gif
I actually added some glycerine and a good amount of sprays from the EdT while I was at it, and I have made a quick test-lather (couldn't wait) and it is looking quite promising, the lather has persistence now and there is only a hint of the Arko scent (which I like actually).
I'll let the concoction dry for a couple of days and then try it again, but I'm confident now, and with 100 gram of BB soap and 75 gram of Arko I now have a decent sized puck that should last quite some time

Didn't catch the theme until I was ready to post. Soooooo....
Preshave: Hot towel over uberlather soak
Uberlather: Mitchells/Tobs Lavender/Glycerin
Scuttle: Handpainted Delft bowl

Razor: Leopold Sommer "Mondesir", 1932
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel
Moisturizer: Erbario Toscano Lavanda
AfterShave: Musgo Real
EDT: Creed Royal Scottish Lavender

Overall, nice shave, but I caught my chin on the way down. Ouch! Then, on the second pass, caught it in the same spot again! OuchOuch! So, to soothe the spirit, I added lavender upon lavender upon lavender. This Lavender cream may be for "mani"--hands--but it is rich enough for the face. The SO walked by and unwittingly betrayed her (primal) approval of the scents.
Have a good night, Gentlemen!
