Have been using Grandad's old Fat Boy for close to a year now with US Personna blades. While rooting through his old things, I found this pack:

Someone please tell me how to dispense a razor. Apparently the "Spoiler" is that I can't figure out how to access the blades. :cursing:

I think you just slide one out with your finger.

Push the top blade, in the direction of the arrow, with your thumb.

I wouldn't be too desperate to try these, according to the reviews section here they are rubbish.

Those poor reviews you are referring to are for the currently available "Russian" Gillette Super Stainless blades. The blades pictured above are vintage Super Stainless. I have used this type of blade and got very good results. A very sharp and smooth blade. High quality. As long as they weren't stored in a damp basement for twenty years they are probably just like new.

Alright, thanks for that info. I just assumed they were the same as those in the review, and wanted to save someone a painful shave.

Thanks for the various takers guys. They won't push out in direction of arrow (that was the first thing I tried, to my newbe DE credit  ). They seem to have little pegs inside that are holding the blades in place. I may attempt removing the metal top and taking a look.

See if the pegs push down like the Personas.

Save them as the vintage collectible that they are  There are plenty of great current production blades out there.

Super Stainless Challenge Update: I was able to open the metal top without damaging anything. The blades do indeed slide out with a push of the thumb, but these particular blades were all stuck together and moved freely after taking them all out at once and giving them a delicate jostle.
Does anyone have any specific info/link for the blades themselves? Taz mentioned they are from the 60's. I'll definately take Slant-Fan's advice and put them into a little shadowbox with my few other vintage shaveables.
My first post on B&B, thanks everyone for your responses!

I have some from the late 70's or early 80's. I'll try to find them over the weekend.

Oh lucky you! These have become some of my favorite blades.
#1 be careful sliding them out if they are stuck you can cut your finger or slice the skin off your thumb,,,,I did.
#2 if it is stuck just firmly tap the case edge against the wall or counter one way and then the other...it will shift the blades about and loosen them.
#3 they are awesome blades and will easily last 5+ days.
StraightArrow and I picked up a bunch off ebay and I love them...I think he does too.
I'd like to know when mine were made... there is a letter and number: F 1 and U.S. patents:3071856 & 3518110.
Good luck.

See this handy chart (http://www.geocities.com/safetyrazors/gil_ser2.htm). I would say first quarter of 1985, since 1960 is about 5 years too early for Super Stainless.
One thing to keep in mind with the Gillette dispensers is that they designed as a "loader" for the razor. The idea is that you hook the center cutout of the blade onto the center bar of the razor and then use that to pull it the rest of way out of the dispenser. That way, you don't handle the blade and risk cutting yourself trying to load it.

THAT makes a ton of sense. Thanks for the info.
