While out doing some shopping I picked up a puck of Williams soap. Well yesterday I gave it a try, it was easy to lather, gave what seemed like pretty good protection. In all not bad for under a buck. The only drawback for me is the scent, not my fav but it didn't last long so all is good there too.

After all the comments here on B&B, I, too, bought my first puck of Williams. I didn't care for the lack of protection - IMHO. The scent isn't my favorite either. The price is right. Its not as bad as some say and not as good as other say-- reckon YMMV time!

Funny, the chain store where I bought mine only had one other wet shaving item, their own brand of DE blades. At least they should have a brush or two for sale;even one space for a cheap brush. Makes me wonder why they carry Williams at all?

They are catering to old men (think men in their 70's, and 80's) who have always used shaving soap, and never switched over to canned goo. Apparently there are still enough of these men around to warrant the chain stocking what would by all appearances be a slow moving item.

Well i have been using Williams for a about 2 weeks this is my first true experience with wet shaving. I enjoy the scent and find that it does its job well enough for its price although I have only used a fusion cartridge with it. But I have dry skin and this soap tends to leave me wanting for more.

Tried it again today, same results. I'm not saying it's going to replace my couple of favorites, MWF and Tabac, but I can see having a puck on hand.

Williams is a pretty decent soap, it works well for me.

They are marketing it towards those too senile to recall how good Williams once was.

After a breakfast of stewed prunes, with a nice tall, cool glass of Metamucel, a shave with modern Williams just seems "right".

From what Ive read here there is two formulas New vs Old, if so how is one better than the other ? I have been using Tabac and really like it ! Although I did order a Cambridge and Oxford today, Lavender is one of my favorite scents !

It is funny, Williams seems to turn over pretty quickly at the grocery here.

I have a puck of Williams airing with a stick of Arko in the garage. The both smell the same, and way too strong, but I get crazy lather off both. Maybe when a spider decides to build a web near them...3 months and counting on airing out.

There's been multiple reformulations over the years, check out the timeline here-
