Well I went to my first Pen show this afternoon and was slightly underwhelmed. Having been to many different types of shows I was expecting more. I was expecting more new pens, as I was halfway looking for a Pelikan M600. There were a lot of cheap pens. Viscotti was there with a booth. I don't mean to sound negative because there were new pens just not the amount that I was expecting. I guess that I was looking at the pictures of the DC show and thought it would be closer to that size. I did pick up some inks, all Noodler's: Dragon Napalm, Texas Blue Bonnet, Texas Live Oak and Texas Pecan for no charge. The one real enjoyment was meeting Brian and Lisa Anderson. I bought a couple of nibs from them, a 9668 Firm Medium and a 9314M Relief Medium Stub and Brian installed a "J" bar in my Blue "SJ". I also picked up a No. 16 Rhodia lined pad. So for my final thought, I will probably go again next year.

I'm hoping there will be a Pen Show in Toronto in the Spring. Apparently the one that normally happens in Sept-Oct. has been put off. I don't know why I like the look of red ink. Not necessarily a great thing when you are an accountant. That Dragon Napalm looks like fun. I may yet pick up some Noodler's Nikita.

Nikita is a wonderful bright red.

My understanding is that Dallas is one of the smaller shows, but I've never been there.
If you want large shows, go to DC, LA, Ohio, Philly, Chicago....in that order.
Did you meet Brian Anderson? He's Lisa's husband and an Esterbrook expert extraordinaire. We need more Brians around here.
Were there a lot of pen parts at Dallas? I'm forever digging through those boxes at shows. :001_smile
I'm looking to go to the newly reformed San Francisco Pen Show (http://sanfranciscopenshow.net/) in three weeks. The last one was six or seven years ago, I forget.
I was overwhelmed! I can't believe there are that many vintage pens in such great shape. Tray after tray after tray. They should be cheaper!

Yes I met Brian, although with my addled brain I was calling him Richard earlier, A great guy and I agree we need more like the Anderson's. I really didn't notice that any parts, though I wasn't really looking for them. I will go back next year though I think I would like to have someone with me to make it more enjoyable.
