I have two containers of Mama Bear's unscented shaving soap and one container of shaving cream, also unscented. All three are barely used. These products simply did not work for me (little to no lubrication, razor skipping down my face or not cutting at all) However, I'm understanding that it might just be due to the fact that I have hard water here where I live. So the first person that replies that wants them, all yours! I'd also be happy to trade with someone that thinks they have something that might perform better in hard water as well..

I've been moving to soaps lately, I'd be interested in taking it off your hands. Are you interested in creams at all? PM sent.

never thought of the hard water being the culprit here. i have several mb soap and so does a friend in houston as well.
i know there is a filter they sell, I need to get it for the shower.
how do you tell if the water is hard or soft?

Most hotels have soft water and you can easily tell by your skin feeling very slipper and slimy as if you still have the soap on you. Also, hard water causes a lot of soap scum and deposits on your shower doors or wherever....

Try using bottled water to shave with. If it makes a difference, you probably have hard water... :001_smile
I did have an issue with adding too many moisturizers earlier this year and the moisturizers kept the lather down.... there may still be some of these soaps out there and if so, I will exchange them for anyone at any time...
This was not Michael's situation tho, but it may well have been the water.

Nope, the lather itself was great. Although, I would suggest for people to read one of the stickies on lathering with a soap with the brush loading technique, instead of trying to create the lather on the soap and transferring it to the bowl which did not work for me..
Most bottled waters are full of minerals, and are harder than the tap water of the user.
If you want to eliminate the effects of hard water, use a Reverse Osmosis water like Aquafina or Dasani. Then you will know.

I have really hard water and use MB soaps daily. No probs. I just wet the brush thoroughly and rub it on the soap as I hold it perpendicular to my lather bowl so that the water from the brush lands in the pre-warmed bowl, then whip up the good stuff. Works great, smells great.

Is there some sort of rule in the US that all 'Sues' are great... I'm sorry Sue that I haven't tried your soaps yet, I ordered them from another Sue  through an internet deal, but I can tell you that you guys give some amazing service. Next time, I'll try your soaps though...
Recently, I even had a US gentleman who refunded me 5$ shipping costs on a razor... (never happened to me in Europe)
