Hello,

I signed up years ago and never got into shaving with a straight razor. I am now going to try again and need help with my first razor and strop purchase. I specifically want to get thoughts on a deal I found on ebay. It is a Kashi german stainless steel straight razor and free leather strop. I was wondering if it was worth the 30 dollar price tag. I like the idea of not having to worry about rust and have heard great things about german stainless steel. Below is a link to razor and strop. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to b n b, or welcome back!

I'd suggest getting a starter kit from Larry at whipped dog. It is the cheapest and best way to get into straight razor shaving. The ebay purchase seems like a waste of money to me. If you are only a bit careful with your razor, you won't have to worry about rust.

Welcome!

Don't buy that, its not a razor, its a RSO (Razor shaped object).

As others mentioned, whippeddog is a great starting place to get a no nonsense razor and strop to get you started. You'll also find great deals on shave ready razors in the B/S/T.

ebay is for later once you have more experience on what is legit and know what to stay away from.

+ 1 on staying away from the ebay for a bit, and + 1 on whipped dog! Nothing worse than getting bad str8 shaves and not knowing if it's the equipment or the man.
