Pay more attention to what you are cleaning than what detegent. Do not use ammonia based cleaners on gold razors, it will remove the lacquer. Some of the acid based cleaners will work on brass, or silver but attack stainless steel.

I normally use dish soap, or Alconox, a laboratory glass cleaner, and medium hot water (130F) or there 'bouts.

shake for about 5 min. at a time, should be fine. I just noticed you're in the UK. Water temp should be in the 35-65 C range not any hotter. If the unit isn't designened for it , it can cause the adhesive holding the transducer to the pan to come loose. Also, be sure to use the basket and don't set anything where it can come into direct contact with the walls of the tank.

+1 Personally I have a small 50W cleaner. Just a few drops of dish detergent and some finger warm water does the trick for me. If I run a couple of 8 minute runs in a row the water actually becomes warmer, so that's another reason not to use to hot water.

Will an ultrasonic cleaner remove tarnish from something like the knurling on a 40's Superspeed?
