I'm considering swirling some water-proof silicone in my lathering soup bowl for added ridges/bumps to aid in lathering. Has anyone ever tried this and if so.. what were your results?? Thanks!

Sounds like a solution to a problem that does not exist.
I can appreciate your "out of the box" thinking, though.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this idea. I believe I've seen lathering bowls with ridges in the bottom to help mix and agitate the water and soap or cream.

It would help.

Yes, but many argue that the ridges don't really do anything besides look pretty. I happen to be one, but they are purdy so I get them. A bigger factor might be creating a small lip around the edge so lather doesn't creep out of the bowl. as to the TP's question, I would go ahead and try it if you want to. The big thing you have to think about is if the bottom of the bowl is textured or not so the silicone adheres to it. I think the worst case scenario is you decide to throw out a bowl full of lather if/when the ridges come off.

I'm thinking that the silicone might be next to impossible to clean out of the brush ("waterproof") and I don't think I'll volunteer any of my brushes to be the test monkey for this one.

What is the porosity of the bowl's surface?

It's been suggested before, the consensus was that sooner or later the agitation from the brush would knock the silicone loose.
If you have an idea of how to make sure the silicone sticks in place, we'd all love to hear it!
