I tried Cella for the first time over the weekend, and my thoughts are.....Tallow is gooood!!! :biggrin:

I loved this soap, I see now why so many do. It was slick, thick, and oh so luxurious! I Bowl lathered it with a RV 2 Band finest, and it had that nice wet sheen, and just worked like a dream. One use and it has become an instant favorite!

Thanks!

It is a very nice soap. I enjoy it quite a bit. I wonder how other soft soaps (Valobra, P.160, Razorock) compare??

I can attest (IMO) that RazoRock (both the hard creams and the Artisan Soft Soaps) is as good as Cella in performance. Can't speak for Valobra (yet) or P.160.

P.160 performance is very close to Cella. I love both but I prefer the scent of Cella. Valobra, as I am sure Marco will concur, is a slightly lower performing soft soap. The tallow stick on the other hand, well that's a different story altogether.:thumbup1:

One other italian tallow soft that hasn't been mentioned in this line is Vitos...I have two of them (coconut and the extra). I haven't used them enough yet to definitively opine, however, my first few uses weren't thrilling (good...not great).

The RazoRock Linea Officina Artigiana (Artisan Soft Soaps) has exactly the same formula of Cella, with the exception of the fragrances. And it's manufactured in Italy by an experienced Master soap maker using the same proven, century-old techniques.

Just wish RazoRock would make a heavy mentholated soft soap.

I like Cella, but since purchasing RazoRock XXX and Cacao I use it but rarely.

~~~I bought a tub of RazoRock XXX from Joseph (ItalianBarber) a while back. I like it a lot but one of the fragrances in it doesn't always agree with my skin. Sometimes (not always) when I use it I will get an after burn, but that said, my skin is uber sensitive. I have an idea if I leave the lid off for a few days this burning sensation I experience occasionally will stop completely, but at the risk of losing some of the soaps floral qualities
Sorry if this is off topic. I have not tried Cella(but really want to soon) and the only Razorock I have is the Classic. If the artisan line has the same formulation as Cella, and XXX I've heard is the same as P.160, then is classic modeled after another name brand soap?
Maybe there's a bit of confusion here. Let's clear up.
The new RazoRock Linea Officina Artigiana (Artisan soaps line) is currently available in eight fragrances, seven are tallow based and one only is veggie (the Muguet de France). The seven tallow based soaps have exactly the same formulation of Cella, are manufactured using the same century-old, proven techniques and are made in Italy by an experienced Master soap maker. In other words these seven soft soaps perform as well as Cella, with different scents available. The RazoRock XXX, instead, is very, very close in formulation, scent and performance to Acqua di Parma, Collezione Barbiere. And these two (Adp and XXX) also share the same manufacturer, which is Biochimica S.p.A. XXX has really nothing to do with P.160. The closest soap to P.160 is Vitos.
Oops, sorry Marco, I meant to say ADP and not P.160. Good information. What is the classic closest too? I have that one and I thinink it's a great soap.
The RazoRock classic is exactly the same as Figaro and Fitness for Men. Same manufacturer and same ingredients list. Figaro, in particular, is quite popular and easy to find here in Italy.
If you like Cella, you are obviously a fart smella.
Oops, I mean smart fella. (darn you spell checker)
Getting ready to whip up a lather with the Chubby 2 in Best right now. Have a good day gents, and long live the Cella manufacturers.
Cella is one of my regular SCSS (can't seem to decide if it is soap or cream!)
Which brings me around to one of my major confusions: How does one decide if it's a soap or a cream? I mean, is it a matter of hardness (creamy vs. puckie?) Or are there certain ingredients you find in creams and not soaps (or vice versa)? Usually I have to resort to looking at the label, but then there is Acqua di Parma, which bills itself as a cream, and Cella, which is about the same consistency (I am told), but calls itself a soap?
:001_unsur :confused1
Or should one simply shave with it and not worry about whether it's a cream or a soap? :001_tongu
Ok. Well I love the classic. I have never tried figaro/fitness and you don't see it mentioned much around here.
I use Cella once a week- I do not bother my mind with it, as it is good no matter what. A rose by any other name...
~~~I'm a simple man so you will get a simple answer...IMO, it's a cream if it comes from a tube though nothing is black and white. Most soaps come in a tub but sticks are an exception. When I first started wet shaving (not all that long ago) I preferred creams and building lather in a scuttle, and with a badger brush thank you very much... but anymore (lately) I prefer soaps face lathered using a boar brush...but that's just me in this time and place

Just wish RazoRock would make a heavy mentholated soft soap.

DDI just ordered some mentolipto, is it not mentholated much? I'd be bummed, I was really psyched for a very mentholy tallow soap to replace Proraso
