FYI

i travel the whole state of wisconsin as a part of my job. both of these locations have decreased the amount of inventory they carry. they still have nice selections - just not as much.

Crap! I don't have any reason to go to Madison this week. Maybe MBW wants to go for a leisurely ride on Saturday. It's only about 3 hours away.

Hmmm, 2 hours +

Probably not. But I am hoping to get to Kohler today. I am almost out of John Michael Kohler ASB. My beloved thinks it would be a nice day for a drive. I'm at her office right now, waiting for her to finish up some end of year work.

Well it was a nice drive to Kohler. I probably spent more on gas than I did on the ASB. I am happy to report that the Kohler Water Spa has John Michael Kohler after shave balm back in stock.

The lady that I talked with there said they reformulated it. I told her I hope it still works as good because I have been highly recommending it.

I can't believe there were places like Patrick's in my town and now they are gone. Started wet shaving a little too late. Oh well, we still have the Soap Opera. Nice folks there and there is a decent selection (maybe we could persuade them to stock a few more lines )

The Soap Opera makes some really good shaving soaps. Very inexpensive too. Here's a review, http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=119945&highlight=soap+opera

Issac's Soaps and Antiques, Mount Horeb, WI

132 E. Main St.
Mount Horeb, WI 53572
608-437-8017
isaacssoaps.com

Stopped in today (8/8/11) by chance and they have a small supply of Nomad, Caswell-Massey and a half dozen varieties of Kiss-My-Face (KMF). Reasonably priced... picked up a Caswell-Massey Greenbriar soap in the wooden bowl for $18. Spoke with the owner, who said he often sees shaving stuff at auction/estate sales (remember that this store is 3/4 antiques and 1/4 soaps) and didn't realize there was a current market for it. He mentioned that they'll be receiving some Caswell brushes soon, and he knows he has some shaving stuff in a box someplace that he'll dig out and put on the shelves.

Stopped in at The Soap Opera again on State St. in Madison. They've drastically increased inventory since my last visit.. over a dozen brushes, Merkur razors, moderate/large range of soaps and creams (a few dozen at least). I picked up Musogo cream and AS reasonably.

Went to Soap Opera recently and did not see any of the brushes or razors and I think they must have cut their inventory of wet shaving supplies. Anyone know of any good shops in the area? Or even in southern Wisconsin? I would be willing to travel if there is a cool shop anywhere around.

I was in the Soap Opera Saturday March 23, 2013. They have actually expanded their shaving supplies. Large new selection of brushes. 3 full shelves now. Back left corner of the shop as you are standing in the door looking in. Not sure how you could have missed it. Did you ask?

Was down for a meeting and I had two minutes in between things, so I just dropped in. So yeah, it was rushed. I saw they had a couple of their shave soaps in a case but nothing else around it involving wet shaving at all. Guess I just saw those and assumed. Interesting. Will check back in when I actually have time. Good to know. Appreciate it.

Wow, this is great. I knew of the Soap Opera but have never been there. I had no idea they sold shaving supplies. I may need to drive downtown tomorrow.
